Save the Date! Urbano Project is excited to announce its participation in the debut festival, Egleston Winter Festival; Lighting the Commons, in collaboration with Egleston Square Main Streets. The day-long festival will be held on Saturday, December 12th from 2pm to 6pm in Egleston Square, “where Jamaica Plain and Roxbury shake hands.” The festival will feature the collaborative work of Urbano artist teachers, students, and fellows including: light installations, projections, murals, poetry, live music and more. This intergenerational community festival will be the culmination of Urbano fall semester and its ongoing creative engagement with the Egleston Square community. City Journalist at #LeadNotFollow! City Journalists team, led by Urbano’s teaching artist, Lina Maria Giraldo will present its ongoing documentary project at this weekend’s Citi Performing Arts Youth Conference. This inaugural annual Youth Arts for Social Change Conference (YASCC) entitled #LeadNotFollow: Navigating Identity through Media and Art, seeks to transform the way youth think about media, art, their identities, and the power of social change. The mission of the Citi Performing Arts Center's Teen Leadership Council is to empower teens to recognize and utilize their potential as artistic leaders and community advocates. The conference will be held this Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Dudley Branch of the Boston Public Library from 10:00am to 4:00pm. @eglestons.us be presenting at the 2PM panel with folks from the Community Art Center, #PhillyPodiumProject, and the Citi Performing Arts Center.
