AT  FIRST,  BUNNY  THINKS  SVETLANA  IS  TALKING  TO  HER ... her head snaps around so fast it feels like she just got whiplash. wide blue eyes stare at the beautiful woman next to her, a soft pink flush beginning to creep up onto her cheeks. then, realisation sets in when she notices where exactly svetlana was looking     ...     and it wasn't at her.

glossy lips press together in a thin line as she looks towards the man svetlana seemingly had her eyes on. ❛ ❛   riiiiiiight.   ❜ ❜ the blonde mutters under her breath. she is totally not bitter about it. like, how dare an actual goddess be wasting her time and attention on a man of all people. ❛ ❛   yea', yea'... can't say they're all fine, but they're definitely all deceivin'.   ❜ ❜ bunny hums, snatching up a glass of champagne off a tray being carried by a passing waiter. doing that made her feel like one of those characters in a t.v. show or movie.

it  had  clicked  with  him  then,  after  seeing  ilya’s  reaction  to  scott  hunter.  1+1=2.  2+2=4.  ilya  +  jane=  jane  is  a  man.  he  kept  this  to  himself,  this  realization.  he  could  be  wrong.  he  could  just  be  reading  into  things  that  didn’t  necessarily  need  to  be  read  into.  and  yet…  he  does.

because  now  he  is  sat  at  a  bar  in  moscow.  the  vodka  goes  down  smooth.  so  much  better  than  what  he’s  given  in  america,  canada,  or  wherever  they  need  him  overseeing  ilya.  svetlana  sits  beside  him,  drinking  something  of  her  own.  some  cocktail.  he’s  known  her  as  long  as  he’s  known  ilya,  which  is  handful  of  years  now.  

something  has  changed  lately  with  her.  she  doesn’t  seem  herself.  “  tell  me  if  i  am  wrong,  “  he  breaks  the  silence.  “  but  ilya  seems  changed.  i  get  it,  his  father  died.  but  there  is  something  more  to  that.  alexei  told  me  he  has  not  heard  from  ilya  -  “  a  deep  exhale.  “  cannot  say  that  i  am  too  surprised  by  that.  but  have  you  heard  from  ilya  ??  or  is  he  with  jane  ??  “

A spike of annoyance shoots through him as soon as the voice hits his ears and he realizes, almost immediately, that he is being spoken to. Part of the reason why he had chosen the seat over in the corner of the bar was in hopes of being left alone for the night. He likes to believe that most people would of had the common sense to leave him alone to sulk. The imaginary dive bar etiquette that he has in his brain says so. Apparently not universally known.

Dark eyes flicker up to meet wide blues before his eyebrows scrunch together. Almost like he is confused at the stranger's approach. But, maybe, the endearingly awkward smile and the clumsy energy makes Robert a bit more accepting of said approach.

"Do I?" Gaze flicks back down to his drink, fingers working on picking at whatever label of the beer. "I'll have to work on my look for next time then."

There was a certain type of thrill that came with the adrenaline of a good fight. It had been a bit since Robert had the chance to have a good spare with anyone. Boxing and fighting, while one of his old favorite past times, had taken a backseat for the time being. But who was he to turn down the proposition for a fight when Shane decided to be competitive? Especially if it meant wiping the smug little grin off of the younger man's face.

"Is that right?" A little self-satisfied smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. His head tilted ever so slightly as he considered Shane on the mat, offering his hand out after a second. "You do look good below me, though."

Even after spending plenty of time in the fog, surrounded by English-speaking survivors and picking up much of their language and habits, some things about Yoichi will never change. Infallibly polite, he's never got out of the habit of referring to others by their last names, no matter how well he knows them.

And speaking to Claudette now... it reminds Yoichi of how he used to talk with his students, all that time ago. He never imagined he would miss those days as much as he does now... but everything that's happened to him, he's convinced, even this- must have been for a reason.

"Can I be of assistance? You needed me for something, didn't you?"

The night outside was quiet — too quiet. The kind of stillness that came after weeks of running, of killing, of listening for the dead in every gust of wind. Inside, the cabin felt like a heartbeat suspended mid-pulse. Matt could hear everything — the whisper of Shane’s breath across the room, the slow drag of fabric as he shifted in his chair, the way his heart skipped every time their silence stretched too long.

He knew it was coming before it happened — could taste the intent in the air, feel it in the heat that rolled off Shane as he crossed the floor. Then the world narrowed to the rough grip at his collar and the sudden crash of lips against his own. It wasn’t soft or cautious — it was a rush of breath, teeth, desperation, the kind of kiss born from fear of what tomorrow might take away.

Matt’s hands found Shane’s shoulders before he even realized it, fingers curling into worn fabric, holding on like he might vanish if he let go. The room spun, not from motion but from everything he could feel — the heat of Shane’s skin, the shudder in his chest, the ragged exhale that broke between them.

When they finally parted, both breathing hard, Matt’s voice was rough. “If that was you trying to calm me down,” he said, almost a whisper, “you missed the mark.”

Despite the fact it feels like she's been in this realm for an eternity, Yui doesn't feel like she knows Claudette particularly well. There's a lot of them here, after all, and when she'd first arrived, Yui was more the type to keep to herself - only opening up gradually to a select number of people over time.

That's not to say that they can't work together, though. In fact, it's easy to work alongside almost all of the survivors here in the fog - maybe because they have a shared understanding; of what it means to be here and what they need to do... not to mention their shared knowledge of the pain and fear that comes with being sacrificed.

Claudette, too, is someone Yui feels connected to. Even without having had the chance to learn about who she was before coming here, it's easy to be in her presence, and there's never anything uncomfortable about the time they spend together. Right now, though, Yui does feel a bit more awkward than usual, if only because she doesn't know how to put in words what it is she wants to say.

"I know I said it already, but... thanks for saving me back there." It's not like she thanks someone every time they help her out - with the inherent nature of the trials, it happens so often that there's not much point in the repetition. Still, Yui's performance today had been so poor that she feels Claudette deserves the extra gratitude. Even if she wants to grind her teeth thinking about her own failure.

"I really do appreciate it. Especially when you've been here so long... hell, longer than most of us, I bet. It... means a lot."
