I get home from work today. My door is open, the house is dark. No Bubbles cries.
I go down the stairs into my room; no Bubbles. I wander around calling for her. No Bubbles.
My housemate joins the search, we look in every upstairs room and call. No Bubbles. My landlady’s door is closed, but she’s not meowing behind it. I can smell takeout though.
So, as I’m hovering by the front door, wondering where the heck she could be, my stomach clenching up, I see a big pale cat wandering around...
...yep. The little fugitive is out, and in our neighbors’ driveway.
I ran over, she ran under the car, she refused to come near me. I had to drift around her, and corner her against their house, then carry her gyrating body back inside.
What I THINK happened was, my landlady opened the door to get the food, wasn’t paying attention, and Bubbles got out between her legs.
Who knows how long the little jailbird was out partying? But I’m just glad she’s back in and safe. It’s supposed to snow tonight.
