#AngelPlus - #VSshow reaction by @thestaceyjewell: I AM ANGEL STATUS. || So it’s that time of year again! My favorite show ever: The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. I have watched this show for years, gleefully anticipating the designs of the wings and all the new designs to hit the runway. This is my favorite night in television. As I’ve grown older, and as I’ve become a curve model myself, what would make me love this show even more is body diversity. The models that Victoria’s Secret chooses to walk in their show are simply gorgeous, however the body styles are all very similar. Where is the diversity? Where is VS catering to the average consumer? The average consumer is not the models that are walking down the runway. The average consumer are people like me and you. We’re the ones eagerly anticipating the doors opening on the first day of the Semi-Annual Sale! Why is the majority of the U.S. population not represented in the fashion show? Is VS afraid that a bigger gal wearing their product is going to paint them in a bad light? Do they know that they’re selling their products to bigger gals? Do they realize that we don’t need a fashion show to accomplish what we want to accomplish as a plus-size community? Companies like Addition Elle are already taking the market by storm with their body inclusive campaign! Have you seen their fashion show? Ashley Graham knows how to strut her stuff down a runaway, and I will tell you that she does it better than most straight-size models I’ve ever seen. She’s confident, curvy and in control. So Victoria’s Secret…why are you holding out? Why won’t you put one of us on the runway? Do you know what would happen to your sales? Do you know the amount of POSITIVE PR you would get? Don’t you have Business Analysts running these numbers for you? Well, in addition to being a curve model, I’m also an Analyst—that’s right, beauty and brains.
