Reminder to American voters
With the primaries coming up, check your state ballot options to find out if you have Open or Closed Primaries.
In Open Primaries, all people regardless of party affiliation can vote for potential candidates for local, state, and federal offices.
In Closed Primaries, you have to be registered to either the democratic/republican parties to vote in their respective primary races for local, state and federal offices.
In Semi-Open Primaries, people of one party and sometimes undeclared or independent voters can vote in their perspective or both primaries (in the case of undeclared and independent voters) for candidates for local, state, and federal offices.
i will be making a longer post with more detail state to state But i want everyone to know that in some states if you’ll turn 18 by the general election you can register and vote in the primary!!!!!!
in 2016 i didn’t know this until the day after the primary when my civics teacher told me and i was so pissed that i could have voted but missed my opportunity due to lack of information. also fuck you to that teacher who was literally teaching civics to a class of 17 and 18 year old high school seniors and didn’t fucking tell us we could have voted?? but that’s a different story. check the voting age requirements for your state so you know if you have this opportunity too!!!
Fuck I need to take a break. US politics is too fuckin much for me rn...... I'm not even from the US. On one hand I have very little control over what's happening but on the other this is a country very similar to my own, how do I stop caring about those millions suffering for stupid cruelty? On the other hand American's suffering is no more important than none American suffering. How do I refocus on the things that I can do?
#DemExit #OurRevolution #Bernie2020
I am very nervous for today. I have ignored everything politics as much as I could to not be triggered. I already voted for Bernie today. Biden very clearly has a mental decline. Trump will destroy him if Biden get’s the nomination. The DNC establishment can’t/won’t be able to hide it. There won’t be anything anyone can do to get people to vote Biden in the general. We are in trouble if Biden get’s the nomination. From where I left off in knowing what’s going on, I’m shocked so many people didn’t or doesn’t understand this.
Some people I saw seem to think they will easily be able to continue to fight for the things they care about if Biden wins the nom, or lose to Trump. That everything will be normal as always and you can’t just politic as per usual. If Trump wins, we won’t be coming back from this for a very long time, and there will be so much damage to our democracy, freedoms, health, well being, rights, and destruction of our country. People will die more than they already do, and the country will take massive steps backwards through history in the worst way. The supreme court is at stake most of all, and once we lose that, it’s game over.
This isn’t a game. And people are being irrational. So much ignorance and privilege on display. I hope this movement is working. I know it’s a bit different than 2016, but it still feels too much like 2016 all over again, and it has me worried. Bernie needs to win big today. The way some people are acting, it seems like it’s a long shot. I don’t understand why this movement isn’t enough. Why people power isn’t working. What will it take? If climate change, the coronavirus, a near recession, a spike in racial and lgbt+ tension, decline of women’s rights, and a criminal of a president isn’t enough, then what will it take?
This election isn’t over, but if Bernie hits a plurality, the DNC may still this from us. There’s so many grenades, and we are truly in a fight for our lives and freedoms. So much is at stake. And too many people in my opinion are too calm. That’s what worries me. The jadedness of people this movement still hasn’t reached. This movement should be so much bigger, but if feels so much smaller than it should be. God speed to all of us. I just don’t know where to go from here if we lose, if Trump wins. What happens next? I’m trying to not get ahead of myself, we haven’t lost yet, but the thoughts are there. Haunting me. Let this movement be enough. Let 2020 be different. A time of real change.
BERNIE WON NEVADA
So apparently people have beef with buttigieg did I spell that right? What's up with that?
Pete Buttigieg you spelled that right. Its mostly over the Primaries, Mayor Pete is moderate Democrat candidate who was more progressive than say Biden, but less so than Harris. most of the dislike of him comes from the primary. Like I don’t particularly like the guy but he is better than most Centrists I suppose. but like all moderate dems, there are a bunch of bad policies you can point at. However as a Mid westerner who did surprisingly well in the Primary, a lot of Sanders fans really hate him because he robbed Sanders of critical support in Iowa, and he folded his campaign and endorsed Biden right before South Carolina’s critical primary, which effectively ended Sander’s hope of winning. So a lot of Sanders fans really really hate Pete for that reasons.
Other people really resent him because he was a mayor of the 4th largest city in Indiana who felt he deserved to run for president and managed to get himself made Treasury Secretary because of it. And among the gay community a lot of people feel resentful that “A straight man’s ideal gay person” is the first to represent them.
We should also acknowledge that some of the hatred against Pete also comes from the fact that he is an openly gay man who ran for President, and is just straight homophobia.
I hope that helps.
