My husband just went to vote in the California primaries, and while I’m a Canadian citizen seeking adjustment of status to become a permanent resident, this particular election has caught my attention. This election, he decided to change himself from Independent to Democrat to vote for Bernie as a little bit of a social experiment-- he wanted to know mostly if they would try to pull something like he adjusted his status to Republican and barred him from voting like some of the horror stories he had heard about.

No such thing for him, he was permitted to vote, but he did note two things.

1. At his location, they moved the polling location from the main library of the local high school to a small classroom that was out of the way and quite a hunt to find. The only indication of where it was was small signs with arrows pointing the way, and it didn’t seem necessary to move the location from the main library. Who knows, he wasn’t going to stick around the entire day to find out.

2. The ballot counting machine was out of order, the people at his polling station were going to have to count each ballot by hand.

That combined with the media declaring Hillary Clinton the Democratic nominee makes me feel uneasy.

ramble about my hatred of politics at the moment under the cut

I have such an issue with people saying Bernie shouldn’t still run as an independent if he loses the democratic election.  I hate that he said he wouldn’t run.  I know in some ways Hillary is not as bad as Trump...but in all honesty?  I’d say she’s scarier than Trump in many ways.  At least Trump wears his prejudice proudly on hi sleeve and people see him for what he is whereas Hillary does not.

Hillary is part of the same system that built Trump.  She gets money from big money backers, so how can we expect her to stay impartial as president?  How can we expect her to have the people’s interest at heart when she is being backed by the same people who want to keep their money and don’t care that the middle and lower class are suffering because of it?  She is a part of this system, and how can we expect her to fix the system that put her into power in the first place?  She won’t fix the electoral system (which absolutely needs changing).  Our government is broken and Hillary Clinton is going to be the last person to fix it when it’s what got her the presidency.

The only reason Hillary has been doing as well as she has is due to the mass amount of voter fraud that has happened during this primary.  In those states where the voter fraud has happened Hillary has benefited from it.  What’s caused a good chunk of the voter fraud is closed elections (that and states suddenly reducing their polling places by a HUGE margin, but that’s for a later discussion).

Closed primaries is something I would love to see go away in the near future.  Having closed primaries when people who don’t identify as democrat or republican don’t have candidates to vote for and then ask them to vote for candidates who they didn’t have a say in electing as presidential nominees is super fucked up in my opinion.  How can we not not allow people who don’t identify with either party to vote in primaries and then then tell them to vote for between candidates they no say in choosing during the primary?  By having closed elections states are barring a significant amount of the population from having a say in the political process and it’s wrong. (and don’t even get me started in how frustrated I am at this 2 party system our country has going because we would be here all day because I am extremely angry at the fact that presidential nominees for smaller parties don’t get to have debates with the nominees of the two major parties before the general election and the people at large don’t get to hear where they stand on issues because you never see them ever)

Indiana Primary

I'm so ready for today to end. I'm ready to know the outcome of the Indiana Primary. I haven't been old enough to vote for many presidential elections, but I know it's exceedingly rare to be this far along in the primaries and to not have a clear nomination. I only see it going three ways... 1) Trump blows Cruz out of the water and its over, as long as he can grab a couple of congressional districts in CA. 2) Trump does poorly and everyone is strung along for another month as they continue to battle it out... not for a nomination based on 1237 but for a better standing at the convention. 3) Trump comes out without a crazy lead (not all 57 delegates) and again we are strung along until CA to see if he can grab enough CDs in California to make up the difference and reach 1237. I remain hopeful. I understand that God will let us choose our leader and my faith in is provision will not waver.

Okay if Donald Trump loses the Republican primary because he supports (rich, white) trans rights I will laugh and scream and die all at the same time.

Around 5k democratic voters in Missouri went to the polls just to say uncommitted/other.

And around 21k voters for republicans did the same.
