There's no doubt that the Classic American Burger is a classic. It has a juicy beef patty, melted American cheese, fresh vegetables, ketchup, and mustard. It tastes like the US!
Ingredients: 1/2 lb ground beef. Salt and pepper to taste. 4 burger buns. 4 slices of American cheese. Lettuce leaves. Sliced tomatoes. Sliced onions. Ketchup and mustard.
Instructions: Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties. Season both sides of each patty with salt and pepper. Place the burger patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare adjust cooking time to your preference. During the last minute of cooking, add a slice of American cheese on top of each patty and cover the grill to melt the cheese. While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill until they are golden brown. Assemble the burgers by placing lettuce leaves and sliced tomatoes on the bottom bun. Place the cooked cheeseburger patty on top of the veggies. Add sliced onions, ketchup, and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun and serve hot.
