Day #142 of lockout: SIGN THIS PETITION

If you haven't heard already, there is a legitimate law that might be passed by Congress that would block websites for infringing links posted by any users. What does this mean for you? It means that you would not be able to read this because Tumblr would be blocked. Want to tweet what you read here? Twitter would be blocked too. It's okay though, you can always post it on Facebook for your friends to see and you can get 4 "likes" and be super cool... think again. Even if you sing a pop song on Facebook, Youtube, or any other website that is copyrighted, you would be infringing against this law. So if you care about the internet and having the freedom to see what you want, tweet what you want, post what you want, and ultimately do what you want, then go to this website, sign the petition, and while you still can, tweet it, blog it, vlog it, "like it" and anything else you can think of.

The US Gov is planning on censoring the internet so if this law passes tomorrow (11/16/11), its no more facebook, twitter, blogger, tumblr, myspace, youtube, etc....it will all be shut down. Sign up now and stop the government from censoring our freedom of speech and the internet.

But we here at Avengers Shouldn't Text implore you, beseech you, fucking BEG you to please write a letter {HERE} to STOP THE CENSORSHIP OF THE INTERNET.

If you care at all about seeing not only this blog but ALL OF TUMBLR continue to exist, please, please, please write in right now. It doesn't matter if you don't live in the US, it gives you options even then.

We really need this from you with ALL POSSIBLE EXPEDIENCY.  Please do this as fast as you can and spread the word about this as fast as you can too.

whiat i ended up writing re: the censorship bill

I am a constituent and I urge you to reject the Internet Blacklist Bills (PROTECT IP Act in the Senate and the Stop Online Piracy Act in the House).  I do *Not* want the government to have the power to block websites. Aside from the inherent problems of censorship being the first steps towards a Totalitarian state, it seems as though there are much more pressing matters at hand requiring our governments attention. Just like it is your choice to Ignore Your Constituents needs because you get more Money from serving an Interest Group or Lobbyist, it is any parents choice to ignore the things that their child is subject to on the internet. They have every chance and Legal Right to take their own precautions within their own home without you Forcing a law upon them that impededs their right to "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness." The Internet Blacklist bill will open the sites I love to crushing lawsuits, and Kill Jobs in the tech sector.  I urge you to join Senator Wyden and other members of Congress in opposing it.
