There is an assumption by many that EVs need new battery packs after 3-4 years. The most frequent question I still get asked when people are looking for their first EV is "how much does a new battery cost". In this video, I try to show how EVs have minimal wear & tear and after 92,000 miles, this 5 year old Hyundai Ioniq Electric still drives like a new one and also has the same battery capacity as a new one!

Battery pack health in a Hyundai Ioniq Electric 28kWh after 4 years and 72,400 miles

In this video I look at another Hyundai Ioniq Electric battery pack, reading the live data feed from the BMS (battery management system) to see the battery state of health (SoH). This car is 4 years old and has done 72,400 miles, yet the pack is still at 100% SoH.

93,000 Miles in a 24kwh Leaf

They got their leaf not long after I got mine, many of you keep asking how they are getting along with their Nissan Leaf, so here is a quick update at 93,000 miles! Correct from what I said in video: 1 bar down out of 12, but that seems to have made only 5-10 miles difference in real world.
