I am sorry for the delay, I am not sure exactly a lot of the times this treatment is given to chalcopyrite to look like peacock ore. I hope someone in the comments can help better! Is it easy to break pieces off? If you can do a scratch test that can help ID too.
How do you identify raw Jade
I don't have any jade so take this all with a grain of salt but there are several tests you can do check if you have jadeite or nephrite. Just note nephrite is softer than jadeite. Your best bet is a scratch test or check for air bubbles. If it is easily scratched with a steel needle its probably not jade and if you see air bubbles its also probably fake.
Keep in mind though that this hardness can vary so its not a 100% guarantee especially with nephrite jade. Shining a light is also not the most reliable as jade can vary in opaqueness and color, so you cannot solely base it on this, as these qualities only impact value.
