The color palettes do more than just make each planet distinctive; a concerted effort was made to ensure that the progression of those colors would tell the same story as the script itself. “We tried as much as possible to parallel them and marry them,” said Doug Chiang. "We knew that it was going to [parallel] what was going on in [Jyn's] mind at the time... We’re designing the emotional arc as a color palette."
