Some senraq headcanons for the lovely @junesbiceps bc I felt like it
Tonraq gets lost a lot in his first few weeks in the south. Everything’s just so spread out compared to the north
Senna takes it upon herself to personally guide him places. Yes, she could just give him directions... or she could flirt
Tonraq does not pick up on the flirting at first tho bc he (like his daughter) is an oblivious buff nerd with a debilitating crush
He tries to impress Senna in increasingly dramatic ways: showing off when he’s with the other warriors, waterbending her ice sculptures, making woodcarvings, etc
He doesn’t realize he’s already impressed her
Also Senna is 100% the smooth one in the relationship once they get together
They love going out dancing together, even if neither of them are very good
One time Tonraq gets into a fistfight with another warrior bc he was being a sexist jerk towards senna and senna is like “ok you’re lucky you’re cute” but secretly is really pleased
Also Tonraq can bench press Senna bc I said so 🥰
Tonraq opens up to Senna about his past in the NWT on the anniversary of his banishment
He expects her to hate him and dump him right away, but instead she just hugs him and says “You didn’t know you were wrong at the time, and you regret it now. Those are the emotions of a good man”

Do you have anymore cool flora/fauna fun facts? I loved your other ones sm!🥺💖💖💖
!!!!! (Actually i started this some days ago but I didnt had time to finish)
1. It takes 0 energy for bats to hang upside down. When you want to grab something, you need to contract your muscles and tendons around it. With bats, their tendons function using their body weight to clench their paws. As they don’t need external energy besides gravity, they can stay in this position indefinitely, if they die that way they will stay hanging. They use high spots as they can't start fly by running as birds and need to use the gravity to start.
2. But not all bats hang, some use leaves to rest. As the leaves are smooth they have developed suction cup in their extremities. INCREDIBLE they just went ok time to become and spy. This is my favorite fact. Suction cups to hang on leaves
3. If you see closely in the picture, the lines in their wing are his fingers. Chiroptera, the order name, means hand wing. They have more maneuverability than birds when flying because their wings are more flexible due to their bones being able to bend (they are really thin so it's like bending a stick) and the fact that is skin. Also, they have receptors that allow them to feel changes in air currents (Bat tongues are larger than one imagines)
Unlike birds, they don't perch to feed. You can imagine them like hummingbirds drinking nectar, but at night
4. This is the smallest (like 2 in and 3gr), he lives in my hearth and in Thailand. He does echo locate. Here are some other cool noses from micro bats. It works like an amplifier and to redirect their callings.
5. Phyllostomidae is the called leaf nose bats, and they comprise the vampire bats (3 species). These bats also have thermoreceptors in their noses. They don't suction blood, they just nick and have anticoagulant proteins that allow the blood to flow and lick it. There were some try-outs to use those proteins to prevent hearth attacks (Bat tongues are the cutest thing ever) Also they crawl, or at least they have better mobility on land than their cousins
6. They are social, mothers stay together and some have nursery roosts to give birth together. One pup by the mother and the mother carries them even when flying. Some caves can have hundreds of bats as they share heat. Which is a problem recently because of the white noose fungus that started in North America and is going south (probably spread by human cave explorers or hikers) It doesn't only irritate their lungs but also the fungus is itchy and wakes up hibernating bats. They lose a lot of energy by starting bodily functions again and most of them can't find food because it's winter.
Look this one, the pup is almost her size 11!!!!!
