If you hit the snooze again, you may moose the sunrise. Surrounded by a cathedral of hoarfrost, a moose at Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge settles down after a breakfast of browsing cottonwoods. The predawn light illuminates the 27,230-acre wildlife refuge with an enchanting glow. Seedskadee protects a mosaic of riparian, wetland, and upland shrub habitats along 36 miles of the Green River in southwest Wyoming. Moose are found year-round on Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge. Winter blues take on a new meaning when you're talking about the vibrant color of the sky and the bright blue water at Little White Salmon National Fish Hatchery. Located on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge, the hatchery raises millions of Chinook salmon and has provided recreational fishing opportunities since its establishment in 1896. In winter, watch for bald eagles of varying ages as they fly over where the river meets the lake. Observe common mergansers dive for salmon eggs, or American dippers rolling in the river's ripples.
