I’m a few days late, but for the English-speaking community, I’d like to try explaining the main unit event in Japan ♪
(However, my Japanese knowledge is quite limited...)
UTAUあなたのオリジナルユニット大会 translates to “tournament with your original UTAU units”! But it’s not like a competition. There aren’t any winners or prizes. Instead, it’s like a mass collaboration between whoever wants to enter!
The 1st tournament was held in the summer of 2016, and the 11th tournament is going on from now until the end of March~ Toru created this event and broadcasts/supports its entries every year ☆
The rules are described in a series of tweets here! Basically, your goal is to create a group of 2+ UTAUs and give it a unit name. Units usually have a theme of some sort. You can present this unit however you want! Covers, originals, art, dance, and so on are all welcome~ And if you have more than 1 idea, you can post more than once.
This year’s entries can be found here as they’re added! Check out the Twitter and Niconico tags, too! From the mylist link, you can also view units from past events~
As for my project, there’s no way I can feature every UTAU unit. So if you’re interested in units, definitely take a look at this tournament ♡ There doesn’t seem to be a rule against non-Japanese users entering, but I would love to see the overseas community try its own version! (*^▽^*)
