How do you tune UTAUs? (like with pitchbends etc.)
This is.. interesting for me to explain. Especially since I'm very, very rusty at it. I don't recommend thinking I'm a pro because I am FAR from it--but maybe this will help at least a little bit??
I'm going to use one of my old songs... Let's use one I haven't released yet, haha. This is what the UST looks like plain without me quite editing the pitchbends yet:
Now, I'm assuming since you're asking in general how to tune you might know how to add this- but just in case, to add a control point, right click the note and select "Pitch..." (by the way, I'm using one of the newer versions of UTAU-- though I haven't updated past 4.10; lazy, haha)
This window should pop up. Hit the check next to Portamento and then click OK.
Now you see this weird dot thing. IT'S GONNA LIKE WORK WONDERS AND HELP OUT PITCHBEND BY ITSELF RIGHT?? No. No, no, no. lolll right click one of the square-dot-things-whatever-they're-called.
*sarcastically* Oh, they're called Control Points. WOOPITY DOO DAY. Click Add and another square will pop up.
Now, drag the middle square back and lower/heighten it-- whatever pitch you want first. I usually prefer lower at first and then a rising pitch, but eh. Whatever works. (I also added a eighth-note rest so I could see what the heck I was doing, by the way). You can also drag the second one back a bit.
The rest is mostly just listening practice. You just keep adding control points and adjusting them. (NOTE: The first and last control points will NOT change pitch--they will always be the pitch of the note assigned, no matter what. You can stretch them to fit the end of the note, though.) You can also add many control place in a specific area to emulate vibrato.
This was just a quickly written tutorial, but this is what that phrase sounds like when rendered (Mani Hatsu's soft). It's a little lame because I wrote this in about 20 minutes... eheh.. Thanks for reading anyway, though!
