See, the thing is, I don't like? Stories that rely heavily on metaphor? Like, what is it Dan Olson said in that video about Annihilation, stories where the metaphor is the story, which Utena absolutely is.

I don't really like them, I find them boring and hard to follow, but the same reason I don't like them is the reason why I end up gnawing on them like an angry squirrel over a nut :)

And that is the perfectionism. I'm too much of a perfectionist to just be okay with not understanding something. So if there is anything of interest to me in a story, I will gnaw at the fucking metaphors until I make sense of them, AND I WON'T ENJOY IT, but I'll fucking do it because I NEED TO KNOW WHATS GOING ON.
