i was thinking some more about my game and the story i would like to tell with it, and i think that gobie (red panda character) is going to be the companion to the playable character. the playable character will be more customizable but gobie will still have skillsets that can be added to and changed in certain ways. id like for those skillsets and how they're changed to affect the gameplay, but im not sure how im going to do that yet.
so the main character in my game is going to be a black bear and their npc partner is going to be a chinese red panda. i dont want to spoil my own game too much but you'll see why that's important posthaste
world building things for my game:
- everyone is a forest creature of some kind.
- i think the villains of the appalachian mountains arc are going to be raccoons. they have little hands and can grab and thats important there
- if there arent any humans im not sure how im going to go about the inciting incident
suffering currently with Having To Practice Designing and Animating Sprites For A Video Game That I'm Doing For Fun And Literally No One Is Making Me Do It But Why Is It Such A Chore disease
so something ive been thinking about as ive been fleshing out the story of my game is the world it's set in. obvs im doing 4 playable areas based on the four main mountain ranges in the united states. but i dont really want there to be any evidence of humans. so im going to tweak the history of the country a bit and we're going in the direction of an animal society
one for the game dev community...
do you prefer playing games with multiple "game mode" options or no? do you start your gaming experience on games with modes on the most difficult setting or start easy and work your way up?
pick which option describes you as a GAMER
don't like multiple game modes
usually start with easiest option and replay on other difficulties
start on hardest difficulty and play once
start on hardest difficulty and replay multiple times
