Matt is heading into his fourth year at UEA. He’s a Niffler that gets the Quidditch community particularly excited, particularly after Southern Cup 2014, where he was highly commended for putting up a fighting performance against the Chimeras and repeatedly threatening their hoops despite wearing no cleats in slippy conditions, thus he was awarded the title ‘Rookie of the Tournament’. Since then, he’s regularly mentioned in the Quidditch Post as a promising player, adding optimism to our reviews! Here’s more on him...

Matt is a nightmare to try to tackle - and what makes this both frustrating and funny is how, similar to Kieran, he can circle round you in such a casual way!

Mud, sweat and tears: It goes to show how much effort is being put in by how much mud he’s coated in – the same level of muddiness as teammates who have literally thrown mud at each other or slid along their fronts (well, to his credit he is wrestling with a Chimera).

When not covered in mud, he’s a snappy dresser! It is very normal to see him dressed like this.
On the pitch: Matt plays with unique style. The aspect of his playing which literally springs to mind first is his reputed dodging, stemming from his electric-quick reaction speed, which is useful for whichever position he chooses that day. He avoids bludgers in a variety of ways, but what always amazes other players and spectators is how he ducks and even jumps over them (the bludgers, not the spectators). For a picture, some of these bludgers are aimed at waist-height! Incredibly nimble, playing in nearly unplayable muddy conditions showed his acute sense of balance. Since then, he has demonstrated the capacity for all aspects of the game which require physicality.
Off the pitch: Alarmingly easy to like, unless you’re Andy of course, Matt’s suave manner and excellent social skills make him appealing to many - fitting, as these traits serve him well as a host for the parties he loves to throw. Beware though, he is as mischievous as he is charming, often playing a hand in shenanigans and pranks (not that his prank victims don’t get back at him: a good half of his social media statuses shouldn’t be trusted)! Still, he is often a go-to for a friend in need, for he works hard to help his friends and keep the peace. He makes those around him feel good, which is an asset for everyone!
