music meme niftiness!
it's a music meme! Here be monsters...
Rules: Put your music on shuffle, write the first 10 songs that come on and your favourite lyrics from them. Don’t forget to tag 10 people at the end!
I was tagged by the fantastic going-to-the-tardis. Allons-y! ;)
I loooooove music!!! Almost all of it in any given genre with a very few exceptions (I admit it usually needs to be music - as I don’t think monotone screaming death metal qualifies (though that doesn’t mean I don’t like metal!)... heh...). I am one of the only people I know who will simply sit and listen to music. And often I cannot not sing or dance or even play along. I also compose music and play a number of instruments. So music for me is a thing. Therefore these are always fun. :) And gt^3, of yours I do know a few...
What iTunes decided was so important that I had to share it here:
Well this is a weird and strangely incoherent mix and wow I’m an angsty sort aren’t I... I should just say I’m “eclectic,” ha! And I actually do like all these. Soooo...
1. Janis Joplin, “Me & Bobby McGee”
Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose Nothin', don't mean nothin' hon' if it ain't free And feelin' good was easy Lord when he sang the blues You know feelin' good was good enough for me Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee 2. Imagine Dragons, “Bleeding Out”
When the hour is night and hopelessness is sinking in And the wolves all cry to fill the night with horror and When your eyes are red and emptiness is all you know With the darkness fed I will be your scarecrow 3. Three Days Grace, “Never Too Late”
Even if I say it'll be alright Still I hear you say you want to end your life Now and again we try to just stay alive Maybe we'll turn it all around 'Cause it's not too late, it's never too late
4. Lacuna Coil, “Senzafine” ~ “Endless” in English
This is written in Italian, which is the band’s native language though they usually write in English. I hope my translation is at least a little bit accurate... It always loses something in translation...
Da adesso ormai che senso ha opporre resistenza a un destino segnato non resterò a guardare senza riuscire a resisterti risvegliarmi
Is there any meaning now In trying to resist destiny I cannot watch without giving in to you [”failing to resist you”] Reawaken me
5. U2, “Sunday Bloody Sunday”
Broken bottles under children's feet Bodies strewn across the dead end street But I won't heed the battle call It puts my back up Puts my back up against the wall
6. Smashing Pumpkins, “Disarm”
I used to be a little boy so old in my shoes And what i choose is my choice What's a boy supposed to do? The killer in me is the killer in you My love I send this smile over to you
7. Nightwish, “Deep Silent Complete”
Deep silent complete black velvet sea brave day sinking in endless night
The age will say "this poet lies"
Heaven never touched earthly face The age will say "this night was ours" Blessed with the deep The silent the complete
8. Pink Floyd, “Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)” ~ Oh, I am a teacher so how amusing is that...
We don't need no education We dont need no thought control No dark sarcasm in the classroom Teachers leave them kids alone Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
9. Do I even admit to this one?... Yes, yes I do. The Monkees, “Gonna Buy Me a Dog”
I’m gonna buy me a dog (A dog? A dog? Why?) Cause I need a friend now (Babe you need all the friends you can get, I’m telling ya!) I’m gonna buy me a dog ( Here Rover, Fido, Spot) My girl, my girl don’t love me nohow (I’d buy me a raccoon but John already has one...)
10. R.E.M., “Bang and Blame” ~ A favourite R.E.M. song of mine...
If you could see yourself now, baby, The tables have turned, the whole world hinges on your swings, Your secret life of indiscreet discretions. I'd turn the screw and leave the screen, Don't point your finger, you know that's not my thing.
You came to bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, Blame, blame, blame, Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, It's not my thing so let it go now.
And I tag... ancyd, fantasticphoenix, sleepysloth, ladycallie (hello you!), doctordaisydana (and you're never too old to fangirl ~ never! ;) ), starinatwalls, kimbermcleod, thetaswolf, thewolfandherdoctor, and gallifreyanheartss.
Not even sorry
Julie Andrews...how on earth does she look the way she does? She looks amazing. Still sad about her voice, though. Pure, utter brilliance. That woman has to be a magician. Not exactly my favorite singer or actress, but she is pretty high up there on the list.
