Veterinarians are never off duty, even with boundaries.

My landlord just popped over the fence to greet me and asked about his really old cat who's basically losing her mind because of neural degeneration. I had just gotten home, haven't even taken my shoes off and here I am basically doing a consult over the garden wall. I give him the quality of life speech and tell him to make a decision.

I video call my partner, and he takes the phone over to his housemate so I can give her advice for her dogs flatulence. She also messages me constantly to ask advice on this dogs skin condition, her other dogs urinary incontinence and both of their eating and training. I live ~18 hours from them and can't do a proper examination of either animal, which she knows. I have recommended a vet in the area she can go to.

I call my mom to chat about her upcoming move to a different country. She ropes me into explaining why one of her five dogs is vomiting, and tells me I don't know what I'm doing because I can't confirm her suspicions. I tell her to stop feeding raw but she knows best. So I tell her to take the dog to her vet.

I have about 3 high school classmates on facebook messenger and one on whatsapp asking for advice. I don't answer. They keep messaging.
