Actually though in all seriousness, intentional at any point or not, I feel like all of the writers combined created a pattern of Deadpool getting embarrassed and claiming to be straight when he least wants to be rejected.

If he’s on his OWN or thinking to HIMSELF, he pretty openly thinks about how attractive Gambit’s butt is or his “stiffy” via Cable or about the chances of finding hot men at a bar. He also clearly has no problem casually mentioning and joking about his attraction to men in most contexts, the same way he does with his attraction to women.

But in the case of his biggest known crush on a man (Cable), when his feelings are involved and the fantasy is actually seen by someone, he reflexively denies it, and then when he references the fantasy and attraction in the future, it’s (usually) to everyone but Cable or lacks full context (like when he brings up body oil a few times). When he’s trying to appease Logan and get him to spend quality time with him, he tries to undercut anything that Logan might find awkward about the suggestion (and Logan does somewhat condescendingly make a “feelings” remark after this so any fears that Logan would find it emasculating already were justified). I don’t know if anyone else has ever seen it this way or if it’s just me, but there it is.

Nobody’s allowed to “but he flirts openly with Spidey” me because 1. he DOES deny having Spidey on his “free pass” fuck list, to Spidey, and that list is one of the things he could least pass off as a joke in an emergency, and 2. Spidey is not “intimidating” the same way Cable & others are; the dynamic is just totally different
