babe! can you tell me what art school is like? do you recommend going to one + what one do you go to? and I think I would love it but I'm soooo not talented enough :(( sorry for all the questions dumpling 💖
I’m doing a bachelor programme of Fine Art and Design in Education in Amsterdam.
Simply said you’re being taught to become an autonomous artist, like most art schools, but next to that you’re also studying for a teaching degree.
For most art school, expect one unorganized, messy pile of shit. Also I learned that it makes your time there 10 times better / worth it if you know what you want to do/learn there and go get it yourself. Because if you do nothing, those lazy asses won’t give it to you. This counts for most studies but art school specifically.
Not being talented (whatever that is anyway) isn’t necessarily a problem for all art schools - you’re there to learn, right. You have to do an admission which is tough, but it's different for each school. There are conservative art academies who value talent above all, and there are art schools that don’t really care whether you possess skills or “real” talent and just want you to be experimental, etc. They’re all different, I bet there’s something fitting for you. Go to open days, talk to students, see what fits best for you! xx
