Life had become tedious for Magnus- who knew having all this power came with no fun? Sure messing around with people who thought they could screw him over brought some entertainment, but it was only ever brief and well, Magnus had a short attention span.

Which is why on most nights you could find him at Pandemonium, a place he offers protection to- In other words meant he would not murder and trash the establishment if they allowed him free reign on their property. Conducting deals and such.

Magnus, of course, never put his face in a deal. He is more of a behind the scenes man that reaps in the benefits. Which is why he has never really been a bother to police. Although his name was well known, it was also discreet in how he dealt in business.

For this reason, it was why when he spotted a certain police officer walking through club doors did he find himself lingering his interested gaze longer then necessary. Eyes following the man across the room as he was not only intrigued by his presence, but also admiring his appearance.

It had been a month. 4 weeks. 28 days. Since Derek had walked out on his marriage. Since he had walked out on his friendship. On his l i f e. But a slight switch clicked in his head and he found himself on a flight BACK to New York.

Heavy knees dragged up the stoop as a flashback of that rainy night one month again ran ragged through his head. With easy hands his knuckle clicked softly against the glass door. Part of him was hoping Addison wasn’t HOME… but then again if he didn’t hope Addison was home, than why was he here? Standing at what he use to call their home.

She sinks into the slow steady of the bar; hugs to shadows lets the warm hum of alcohol settle under her skin, and wraps herself into the sweet baritone bewitchment of the jazz band swaying the evening crowd. On her left, familiar faced men sneer at her behind their drink. On her right, unfamiliar faced men whisper obscenities under their stumbling tongues. She nurses her drink with mild fingers. She can’t blame them for their irritation, their distaste. Likely, they hate her husband, not her. Loathe by proxy. A waning shadow befalls her shoulder and their buzzing and looming halts. From the fear on their faces, she wonders if she’s found company with the Devil himself. A glance tells her she would have preferred old Lucifer himself to this crooked thing of a man.

“ If you’re going rail on me about territories and whatnot you ought to keep it to yourself. I’m not here on anyone’s benefit but my own, I don’t care for any trouble. ” She says this into her glass, the ring of her soft dulcet tempering her weariness in nonchalance. The alcohol taste more bitter on her tongue with his arrival, harsher with the reminder. A waning sigh clips the crisp sound of glass on polished wood. Rifling through her purse, she procures a long cigarette and hangs the end from the edge of a rogue’d lip. “ So sit down and have a drink. Tonight you’re just any other man in my eyes. Gotta light? ”
