Of course one of the few days Lance shows up to classes they're assigned as partners for a project. She's sure the teacher just expects her to complete all the work alone. She's capable of it sure, but is it fair? Hell no. There was always requesting a partner change or just straight up asking to complete it as an independent project so she wasn't carrying Lance to a grade he didn't deserve but then again maybe he could use the good grade. Whether that would help him pass after all his absences was up in the air.

There was also the fact that he was on the rival teen superhero team. Yeah that sounded weird even in her head. Alison attended the Xavier Institute and put in her time training with her powers but she did her best to stay out of the skirmishes. Fighting wasn't on her list of favorite pasttimes and it wasn't what she'd signed up for. She was here to learn control over her mutant abilities. The rest of her free time was focused on homework, regular school extracurriculars and keeping up original content for her YouTube channel. If her grades slipped at all her father would demand she come back home. There would be know working on her music in that house.

All that reasoned through, Alison decided she'd remain his partner but he was going to do his half of the work.

Ali caught up with Lance after the bell rang. "Hey Lance! Wait up a second."

"Yeah." He was blushing but it was because he really liked Rogue. Liked. He knew there were rules here, nuances he was still learning. But he wasn't ready for her to go yet just because it was late.

He shrugged. "I don't know, they're nice to me. But I don't always fit in. I heard you joined and how they treated you . . . I don't know I wish you'd stayed."

He liked everyone, it was in his nature too. But he was also aware he didn't fit in, it was a lonely sort of feeling that could follow him even into a crowded room. It wasn't the kind of feeling he wished on anybody and based on his understanding Lance had it a lot worse if only because his memory was longer.

The boy called Longshot was still new to the mansion. He wasn't a mutant in the traditional sense, but his unique physiology and lack of memory meant that for the time being he was welcome.

And as long as he was staying in the mansion, he would train with the others after Logan had gauged his existing combat abilities.

He was currently bouncing and weaving around Logan. “Well you want to hit me. And I don’t want to be hit,” he said with a laugh. His left eyes was glowing like a cat’s in the dark. Whatever the kid was, he was certainly acrobatic, his unique spine allowing him to move and contort out of Logan's reach. And he was treating this sparring session like a game.

v; evolution- this is an x-men: evolution verse set roughly sometime in s3 after the Reveal. as in his canon longshot is an amnesiac fugitive from the mojoverse who arrives at the x-mansion believing he may be a mutant and ends up staying on as he has nowhere else to go. in keeping with the show's focus longshot appears to be in his late teens.

"--yeah? Well, I'm gonna die tryin'." His words cut through her like a knife, straight through the bone and into her soul, but she kept a stoic face. She can't let him know she's scared. Tara would lay her life down if it meant saving her a people. A group that she tried to lead with love and compassion. "Now, the real question is..." Jaw tightens. "Are you with me or against me?"

“ hey, what are friends for, huh? ”

A hitched breath in and a sharp breath out. Usually, Tara tried to mask a brave face- every so often weakness would slip from the cracks. It wasn't even weakness; just a breaking point. Something had to give.

"Thanks, Kal." She slapped his leg and gave an appreciated squeeze. "Really. Thanks." Something about him was calming. And Tara would never forget his warm, comforting eyes.

Kitty averted her eyes, that was one of the thoughts that kept her awake at night on some missions. For the safety of her and her teammates. It wasn’t one she liked to think about on a regular bases. “ But were good at what we do, so like, we make it back alright by having each others backs. I think just thinking of how you’ll die, really is asking to have a bad day. “

“I’ve never thought about it that way,” she mused, fiddling with her hair and nails nervously. She admired the girl’s unshakable optimism. “I guess I’ve just been a little worried since Scott got hurt. He’s not one to take risks like that.” He had recently jumped in front of her on a mission and she felt dead guilty about it.
