Sorry, this will be confusing: The term “Guilt” isn’t even used in the English release, despite it being written in plain English in the Japanese version.
Instead, it is referred to as “Special Attack Bonus”, sometimes just “Bonus”...
Anyway, we’re just going to call it Guilt! It’s horrible and confusing, and surprisingly poorly explained by any official in-game news or tutorial. =T...
What does it do? A Multiplier for your Multiplier!
Guilt acts as a multiplier for your medal’s special ability damage multiplier. (It’s the number next to the word “damage”!) So, 10% Guilt, for example, would add a +10% to your damage multiplier (x1.1); whereas 100% Guilt would add a +100% to your damage multiplier (x2). So, if your multiplier is 2.02 with 35% (1.35x) guilt, then your actual multiplier would be 2.727.
How do you get it? Power Bangle!
Guilt won’t even exist for you until you get the Power Bangle, automatically received at Story Quest 350 in the Japanese release, but only Story Quest 200 for the English release. Once you get this awesome bangle, all your 6 ★ medals from then on out will start with a 0% Guilt Bonus.
How do you add Guilt to a medal? 6th Dot
As you should know, there are 5 slots for yellow dots on a 6★ medal, and every single dot you add increases the displayed damage multiplier. Guilt occurs when you attempt to add a sixth damage multiplier dot. The size of the Guilt bonus is random. If you want it to go higher, just continue to fuse in identical medals in the same way you would for a dot and it’ll “reroll” the guilt you obtained!
So, how much Guilt can you add? Guilt Tiers!
There are four different Guilt ranges in place. What these ranges are, unfortunately, is entirely determined by how common the medal is:
20%~50%: Jewel Draw Medals
40%~100%: Recent Jewel Draw & Older “Premium” Medals
60%~130%: Newer “Premium” Medals
Each medal falls into one of these ranges, and there is no ordinary way break out of these ranges (in truth, Japan saw an event where older medals were temporarily rereleased with a higher Guilt tier through the Jewel Draw).
Every time you fuse in another medal to roll or reroll Guilt, it’ll choose a random value in the medal’s range; if it rolls higher than your current value, it’ll increase. If it’s lower than your current value, it will not decrease, but simply remain the same. Again, there’s no way to get higher than the max percentages listed (outside of a special newsworthy event).
How do I know what Guilt Tier my medal is in? Check our Medal Lists!
We have a column showing the Guilt Tier of a medal on our medal lists (JPN / ENG), so you can easily figure out what medal is in what range. As a general rule of thumb: “Story Drop” medals are in the lowest tier, then “Jewel Draw” medals are in the middle tier, then “Premium” medals are in the highest tier. Event medals seem to vary, with the newer events in the middle tier, but older events in the lower tier.
Furthermore, if you already have the medal (and have a strength bangle), there’s silhouettes of one of these three Guilt symbols below on a 6★ before any guilt has been added, pending on their tier, from lowest to highest. This silhouette will only be displayed on 6★ medals, but this includes the evolution “preview” on 5★ medals, if you go in pretending to evolve it.
Does Mickey & Brooms work to add Guilt? Yes. This is also how you’ll be able to add guilt to old Event Medals. (These aren’t released yet outside of the Japanese KHUX!)
Can you put Guilt on 5-star medals? No...
Other people have different colored Guilt than me? The higher guilt tier you’re in, the bigger & pinker it becomes.
How do I figure out my new multiplier? I need math help! Whatever the % is, put a 1. in front of it. That’s your multiplier. 35%? 1.35 times your actual multiplier.
I tried to fuse in a medal, but my guilt percentage didn’t go up? The number chosen is random within the medal’s set guilt range. If the random number is a higher %, then your guilt will increase; if the number is a lower %, then your guilt won’t change. You may also be at your max for your guilt tier, so check the medal guide.
Aaah, it didn’t work at all?! In the Japanese KHUX, you need to be past mission 350! In the English KHUX, you only need to be past quest 200! If this isn’t the problem, pay attention: Does the 6★ have all five dots filled? Are you fusing the exact same medal into it (same star rank, same id number)? It functions exactly like the ability/damage multiplier “dot” system, in this regard.
Gah! I’m still confused? I have a specific question that isn’t answer here? First, check though all our posts tagged #guilt, and if you’re still lost, send a question through our ask box! :D
