Just got back from a mini-vacation to Asheville, NC. This is how far I got on my shawl.

I have a lot going on and I've been having weird stress dreams as a result. Last night I dreamed that I was packing and getting ready for a vacation. But realized at the last minute that I didn't have any knitting projects ready! And I was trying to think about how to take WIPs but I either didn't have any more yarn for them or the yarn wasn't wound. And I am going on a plane in about a month to take a weekend long vacation. So I'm looking up knitting patterns for the vacay. Anyone have any ideas?

Started another cowl... I have four skeins of neighborhood fiber co test colors “mystery yarn” I bought this summer... thinking a bunch of these cowls and some hats are a good use of it. I want to start a good stash of knits so I will have gifts for next Christmas or have a good stock of stuff for our local holiday craft market next fall.

Back from Vacation. Need a Vacation.

We were gone for 10 days: Michigan to NYC, NYC to CT, CT to NH, NH to ME for the 4th of July celebrations then back to NYC for one night to break up the drive and home again Monday. Our little man was a wonderful and patient traveler considering how many hours he spent in his car seat and how many different homes he slept in. The trip was fun but exhausting. I did get to visit the Harrisville Designs shop. It was a total surprise. I didn't realize that we were in that Harrisville. The shop is very nice. My knitting has been slow; very slow. I still haven't finished my Lacy Rib Socks. I did however finish spinning my 8oz of Polwarth fiber. It yeilded 586 yds of 2ply (prior to washing). It turned out very nice and I will post pics soon.

Travel, Knitting, and Pregnancy, Oh My!

I'm just recovering from last weekend's getaway to Arcata, CA. The drive is usually wonderful but traffic was brutal and at 30 weeks pregnant there's limited comfort in a long car ride. I did however get to the beach which was great and did some knitting while I was there. (Will post photographic proof asap). It seems like everyone is knitting Elizabeth Zimmerman baby sweaters. I really want to finish my Trellis sweater before starting another project but I'm not sure I can resist the urge to start another project. There are so many great baby booties, sweaters, blankets, etc. I want to make them all! I walked over to my LYS just to peek at some of the Zimmerman books but they were sold out. They didn't have any of Debbie Bliss's kids knits books either. It must truly be the season of baby knitting.

Well, I’d call that a productive vacation!

The sweater on the bottom of the pile was my main project for the trip. I was working on the waistband when I got on a plane to VT on December 21, and I bound off the last shoulder today at JFK. Still to do: sew the shoulders closed, do the sleeves (likely picked up and worked top-down), cut open the neckline steek, add my planned shawl neck.

I did 95% of the work on the scarf at the top in September (it was the September non-sock project for the Rockin’ Sock Club), but I finally finished that frigging edging!

Annnnd at the very front is the sock I cast on today! (Technically, I cast it on last night, but I forgot to leave enough yarn at the beginning to graft the toe closed, so I frogged and re-started it today.)
