What do you make at the library?

oh lots of stuff! I'm lucky; my library has a lot of amazing tools and resources.

I 3D print stuff sometimes, or make buttons or t-shirts, but I also used their vinyl cutter to make these keyboard stickers for my laptop, and I think they turned out pretty cool!

but, I do have evil plans.

at some point I really want to see if I can make a tiny musical instrument using their laser cutter, maybe a little duclimer or a hurdy-gurdy? I just want to make something cool and small that I can bring with me on road trips.

Whats your favorite animal

it's hard to pick!! i like a lot of animals!!

mole! they are soft looking and diggy and i like their lack of visible eyes and ears. that's just a blob with a snout and big claws

indian mongoose ! though they are invasive in my area

numbat! a little marsupial that eats termites with its long sticky tongue. i love its stripes and pointed snout

starry pearl moth! i like moths in general but this guy speaks to me. its small and brown and kinda unassuming but i love the pattern (jagged like lightning) and again the wonderful snout

i also really like other bugs and marine animals

where have I heard this before? it vaguely reminds me of Age of Aquarius by The 5th Dimension, but also somehow the band The Hobbits? but more upbeat and sticky-sweet, with cleaner sound and solid gay chaos vibes?

Hey frank! Can you share an excerpt from that fanfic you’re writing?

It's coming along. The thing I want to do in this fanfic is "let's see how the rationalist community deals with the question of which AI is 'us' and which is 'the aliens.'" The aliens are from the future, and their future selves are all rational. They created the computer simulation of their future lives, with the idea of making a copy of them. What they got was something alien, full of weirdness, but with the ability to act in the world with their strange bodies. So, what do they do, when they notice the weirdness is slowly becoming something that's them – something that is like themselves but different, in a way that makes them uneasy?

If I get a chance, I want to go on with the story and write it out in book form, but it's hard to do that when I'm not sure how it's going to go.

Frank, what fandoms are you a part of?

Mostly on tumblr, I guess. I'm on the same side of the rationalist social scene as several of my closest friends, although we tend to have a sort of "separation of church and state" and it's not like we ever agree on the substance of anything.
