Santa Monica, please let us meet that piece of shit again in Valhalla DLC, thank you
If after the Valhalla DLC
You still believe that the guys over at SantaMonica Studios hate Greek Era Kratos, then I don't know what to tell you.
Think what you will about their public statements, or certain design decisions from GoW4 and Ragnarok, or the state of Sony Interactive as a whole since the move to California. But they clearly have immense reverence for the series, where they came from, what got so many people their break.
The recurring story beats of this DLC revolves around two old guys, who are considered pussies by many, duking it out as bros to sort out their minds; with a lot of reflection on Kratos' past deeds, that despite his own failures and evil deeds, he was still just a man.
It literally ends with Old Man Kratos speaking to a projection of his younger self, which can be summarized with
GOW Valhalla DLC SPOILERS
Ok so I finally started the DLC and HOOO BOY!!
Love seeing Kratos go through a therapy session via combat and Mimir’s badgering. Freya wanting him to be a part of her peace council as the new God of War for the Norse realm really puts into perspective how much he still doesn’t trust himself with that type of power.
But him knowing that about himself only proves (to me at-least) that he’s grown from the god he once was. Mimir sees it too; especially once Helios gets involved!
The way I SCREAMED when I saw that asshole take Mimir’s place! Loved the snarky commentary though, reminds me very much of Hermes, hope to see him too. Also! When we get to Týr and him find out he’s the one who sent the invite and that WE HAVE TO FIGHT HIM NOW?
That’s the Týr content I’ve been waiting for! His insight and advice to Kratos from one God of War to another, the fact that he faced the same doubts as him about his title— AGH I’m in love with this version of Týr!!
Also also, Kratos putting Helios in the cage but then it changing to Mimir last minute and him just freaking out about it! Breaking the cage and therefore breaking Valhalla and Sigrun diving in to save them and then on the second run Kratos PLACING HIMSELF IN THE CAGE!!
This man I swear—
Can’t wait to jumo back in later tonight. This DLC is fucking AMAZING!!
Ciara Ingen Medba!
