Just saw extremely cute Goodreads review with a kid mistaking “valedictorian” as “Valid Victorian” and

a) that objectively sounds way cooler

b) I DEMAND that someone put this name to use, with the context and meaning of their choosing, in another book somewhere at some point.

So yesterday I checked my class rank, and I was ranked number 1. As exited as I was, I didn’t tell my friends or anything, but did tell my sisters and family. My sister decided to tell her friends, which is whatever, but her friends had a few other questions. 

My 15 year old sister, a sophomore in high school, thought that Valedictorian was spelled/ pronounced 

VALID   VICTORIAN

like having the best grades in the school somehow meant that I was finally able to be Elizabeth Bennet, a Valid Victorian.

How to be the Valid Victorian:

(because you can't be the Valedictorian) -Dress like you're from the 19th century, corsets et tout ça, especially at dances and social gatherings -Incorporate random French and German phrases into conversation -Drink tea -Embody cavalier insouciance -Talk in a posh British accent -Call everyone "my dear" -When something shocking happens, remember to faint -Have prudish moral standards -Use a horse-and-buggy, Hansom cab or velocipede as transportation -Leave a calling card -Check the time on your fob watch -Read books about etiquette -Confer excessive importance on the correct way to eat an artichoke -Be very impressed and surprised with scientific inventions and ask everyone to explain how they work -Hide in your house and cover the room with thick velvet curtains

When I was little I thought valedictorian was pronounced valid victorian and that people were celebrating them being a legitimate victorian citizen.

Whereas the mondegreen tag is much as you'd expect.

For some reason, I don't like to share my own mondegreens* but I am more than delighted to recollect those I've discovered along the way:
