Oh my god I am SICK of hearing “Azula had nobody” and “Zuko had Iroh and that’s why he had a redemption ark and Azula didn’t”. Because you are incorrect.
Azula HAD people. Specifically these two:
And they are EXACTLY why she is the way she is.
They weren’t neglectful either. Lo and Li went with Azula when she was sent to the earth kingdom. In the first episode of season 2 we see Azula bite the head off any sailor that suggested something she didn’t like, but she respected the opinions of Lo and Li when they suggested she travel with a smaller group. They didn’t go with her, but they’re also very very old.
This isn’t even to MENTION that both of them chaperoned the beach episode.
And who were the only people to inquire about Azula’s mental state during her breakdown?
Lo and Li.
They may not have been as wise or as helpful as uncle Iroh, but Azula wasn’t alone. They were probably loyal to the fire nation and its principles, and honestly probably egged on Azula’s perfectionism.
One of my first Fanart contributions: The eldest two sons of Fëanor with the children they adopted (by surprise)
Elros got into trouble. Elrond just likes to be tall.
I always imagined Elrond getting more attached to Maedhros, as many of his mannerisms and philosophies seem to align later in life (fantastic diplomat, dodges the crown at every possible opportunity, phenomenal war strategist and general) whereas Elros founds a kingdom that revolves around the sea, which Maglor walks alongside for centuries.
most people have this misconception that maglor was a lot more involved in raising the twins and that he must’ve taught them more simply because elros and elrond are so wise and kind and no one can imagine maedhros 'spitfire' fëanorion being behind that but whenever someone annoys elros he gives them the potent Maedhros Death Stare and elrond can wield a sword with both hands because maedhros insisted on teaching him how and elros learned most of how to be a king and ruler from maedhros and elrond abdicated the crown of the noldor just like maedhros did. in the little ways the twins are a lot like him and it only makes some people a little uncomfortable when someone gets on elrond's nerves and for a split second he looks about ready to commit a kinslaying
Well yeah where do you think Elrond got this
Feanorian Weapon Headcanons
Maedhros is a swordsman, obviously, with a bigass sword. I feel he also has something strapped to his stump, but don’t know what. A shield? Another blade to be extra stabby? Something to bludgeon enemies with?
Maglor uses his voice a lot in battle. He’s so good he can focus it to just affect enemies. He does have an actual weapon, but I have no idea what. I’m tempted to suggest a bludgeoning implement, but I think that may just be my innate desire to bludgeon people.
Celegorm is an archer. He also has knives. He’s just older, bigger, meaner Legolas.
Curufin wields a warhammer. I headcanon that he is the shortest brother (with Maglor only slightly taller) and it very much amuses me to imagine the little guy with a big ass warhammer. Also, he’s a smith so it’s thematic.
Caranthir has taken a bit of influence from his Dwarrow friends and has a battle axe. They are impressed with his skills.
The Ambarussa both wield spears and use bows and arrows in battle but when they’re hunting one has a spear for boars, bears and bisons and the other has a bow for smaller critters.
Celebrimbor isn’t much of a warrior, but when necessary he can be pretty devastating with a sword thanks to lessons from Uncle Mae.
Feanor can and will use anything as a weapon. Anything in grabbing range can and will be used as a projectile towards Indis spawn or as a bludgeoning instrument for Indis spawn. Unfortunately he is short so Fingolfin can wrestle him into submission before any actual damage is done.
one aspect of avatar canon i feel like isn't talked about nearly enough is the fact that zuko canonically has prophetic dreams
like during zuko's Morality Coma in season 2 he has an incredibly vivid dream about two red and blue dragons, and then in season 3 he just fucking. meets the exact same dragons for real? there are slight differences in how they look but otherwise he genuinely just dreamed about ran and shaw months before actually seeing them in person? and it's never elaborated on but huh???
zuko: yeah i had some weird fever dreams. there were like these two dragons circling me, and the blue one sounded like azula and wanted me to die or whatever, and the red one sounded like you and was telling me not to do that—
iroh, the only person in this house who should know what those fucking dragons look like: hey What
zuko for sure keeps having dreams like this for YEARS without connecting the dots that it's weird spirit shenanigans. aang eventually has to point it out to him and even then he thinks it's Uncle Bullshit for several more years
so what you’re saying is—
Zuko, freshly scarred: I had a dream that Uncle and I were clinging to a piece of driftwood for weeks before we ended up at a lovely spa and tended to and all my injuries were healed up
Iroh, years later, on week two of driftwood era: maybe I underestimated the sense of humor that the spirits have
a collection of my fav tags on this post--
#I think there are explanations other than prophetic dreams but this is funnier#like for example him looking in the mirror and seeing air nomad tattoos is probably#just a manifestation of his anxiety around helping aang and what that means about him#but considering Zuko's grandfather is a former avatar and he later joins aang#that is a very funny dream for him to have#I vote Zuko has been having prophetic dreams this whole time but they involve a lot of symbolism#and he Does NOT do symbolism#so he's just like hm. yeah that was weird#and then when life poetically mirrors his prophetic dreams he doesn't even notice#This never comes up during his life time but some historian eventually uncovers his dream journal and finds it pretty blatantly#predicts every major event from his lifetime and beyond#and it ignites massive debate about how this foreknowledge was affecting his decisions as a head of state#hint: it wasn't (@an-android-in-a-tutu)
#listen not to read too much into the one line about love among the dragons#but zuko definitely knows about poetic symbolism but he doesn't believe in prophetic dreams due to thinking it's old man stuff for his uncle (@rogha)
#zuko thinks the curtains are blue and nothing else#prince ‘…which could mean nothing’ zuko (@averagemrfox)
#apollo throws the dodgeball and it just bounces off zuko @noccolibroccoli)
#Zuko being the spirit’s favored Normal Human (along w Sokka)#and him doing absolutely nothing with it#bc it never strikes him as relevant#(as opposed to Sokka who knows about the spirits but actively chooses to ignore them)#(out of spite and non-belief) (@seaglassdinosaur)
#sokka who had Multiple close encounters with spirits. still thinks they’re total bs#🫱🏽🫲🏼#zuko who has prophetic vision and thinks they’re total bs (@aneclecticmoonchild)
#zuko 🤝 sokka#yes I've had encounters with the supernatural no I don't believe in it (@emkini)
#he's that guy#the one who has prophetic visions but also impostor syndrome so he's like 'ugh it's just weird dreams'#'prince zuko have you considered maybe you have a gift--'#'there's only one gifted child in this family and she's a massive pain and also better than me at everything actually' (@aethersea)
#zuko gets into a coma everytime he makes a right decision bc the spirits gotta congratulate him somehow#they’re proud#do good and see the future as an exchange (@newbie-i-guess)
lies pippin has told boromir:
hobbits will die if they aren’t holding substantial amount of gold at all times (boromir gave him gold)
for reproduction hobbits duplicate
that he is actually 4 years old
that he is actually 200 years old
that he is immortal
that merry has 30 children
that merry can fly
that his legs will come off if he is not carried
boromir believed all of them because pippin told him hobbits can’t lie
“Hobbits never lie?”
“Never,” Pippin lied.
part 2 of my copper-haired Maedhros au (with even more oxidation thanks to hanging on a cliff for 30 years 😬)
… and some much later aftermath with Curufin and Celebrimbor
Had to ban the phrase “tricky dick” from my classroom during watergate lesson because saying the word dick in front of 30 fifteen year olds is like lighting a bomb and throwing it through the doorway but now they’re just calling him Richard the Treacherous like they’re all medieval peasants. gonna lose it
Finyo having a Li Shang moment there
so is glorfindel's first body still sitting at the bottom of the ocean or-
"average elf uses 3 brain cells a year" factoid actually statistical error. average elf uses 0 brain cells per year. Braincells Elrond, who lives in Imladris & uses 10,000 brain cells every day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted.
Hey in middle earth is there any ecological consequences for those big fuckin eagles
Goblins and hobbits both make their homes underground
Funniest answer for why gandalf didnt use eagles to carry the hobbits to mordor
I have a hilarious year of the trees take: Maedhros and Fingon are together (romantically) and Celegorm and Aredhel are completely platonic, but everyone thinks it's the other way around (namely Feanor and Fingolfin)
Like Celegorm is getting CONSTANTLY lectured by his dad and all of society for his relationship with Aredhel, whereas Maedhros is off fucking Fingon by a waterfall somewhere and everyone's like "Oh theyre such good friends :)"
Celegorm would be PISSED. He just wants to go camping with his homegirl (and for her to join the hunters of Orome) but all the parents are trying to tear them apart cause they think they're fucking. Whereas Maedhros and Fingon are giggling together at court, writing each other the sappiest love poems, and dance together at every social gathering and no one suspects a THING.
Bonus points if all of the cousins are in on it, and none of the Feanor/Fingolfin/Finarfin generation ever figures it out.
the scene in la casa de papel (slight spoiler warning?) in which bogota says he has 7 children and pulls out this flip thing from his wallet with baby photos of his kids in order and proceeds to explain what each of them is doing rn that's feanor
It tickles me that the tweets are talking about Rose (Betty White) while the art shows Blanche (while Dorothy has a gentle meltdown at the desk, which I do love), because this actually was a point of contention in the show:
The slut is dead, long live the slut.
Dorothy, about Rose: She is the easiest woman in this room.
Blanche, deeply offended: Dorothy Zbornak, you take that back!
I love them. I love them so much.
Dorothy, about
Rose: She is the easiest
