Phobias: Being touched in an intimate setting (Valyre eventually finds touch comforting from certain people but she is cautious as hell. She is still romantic!), failing her major objective to protect the Earth / Preserve nature. Valyre loves nature so much more than people. Her deep motivation to protect all forms of life is definitely the reason why she is opposed to Solas’s goal. If he managed to keep animals/plants alive, and explained somehow to Valyre that nature would flourish with his planned course of action, he could convince her to join him instead. 

Guilty pleasures: Wearing beautiful impractical fancy clothing, tiny cakes, spoiling her friends and crushes with special gifts, smoking elfroot joints, experimenting on herself with lyrium (GODDAMMIT).

Hobbies: Taking care of anything and everything her allies need (she often spent her free time running around Skyhold, making sure everything was in perfect working order). Studying plants esp (she loves to sketch what she studies), and studying nature, magic, and history in general.  She is particularly fascinated by mysterious unknowns, and tries to figure things out related to Dwarven/Elven involved history. Valyre makes her own alchemical potions and experiments with magical chemistry whenever possible. She invents potions akin to those used by the tempest, but makes them knight-enchanter suitable. She loves gardening and sleeping. Valyre has been known to argue with people for fun in order to better understand them, or to simply learn (it drives most people nuts, she is one of the few oddball types able to argue and not take it personally). Also, often enjoys attempting to climb Iron Bull like a tree (she likes to be tall...)

I love @befooled 's Cerise, it would be so cute to see Valyre get all flustered over her. 💚 Fenris💚 (I loved the fic you sent me about Valyre and him, I had to do this. Heh.)

I adore you to bits, you know that?? Thank you for always being so supportive and for reading all the silly things I send you. It means more to me than I can type 💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙 ilysomuch Fitz.

💚 Fenris 💚

Valyre encounters Fenris after the events of Trespasser. With her Inquisition disbanded, Valyre seeks out new trustworthy allies who are powerful enough to help her face a god-level adversary (one who knows everything about her weaknesses) – she needs the most unique and steadfast people on her side. Varric, being an extremely helpful friend, knows that magic hating, mega strong lyrium-infused Fenris would be the perfect individual for this situation, and arranges for the two to meet. Fenris is eager to help, as Solas’s plan is pretty much everything he hates on an apalling level.

Valyre and Fenris clash intensely at first. Valyre is an elven mage of great power who has dabbled in ancient magic no one (on her side) truly understands as of yet, and Fenris is a magic-fearing traumatized hella aggressive kill machine… It’s a little scary being in the same room with both of them!

The tension only breaks when Valyre has dreams showing her Fenris’s past horrors, and she softens her usually unyielding attitude around him to facilitate the beginnings of friendship. Valyre reveals things about herself first to help Fenris trust her a bit more, and she never brings up that her dreams shared Fenris’s memories – she waits for him to discuss each instance on his own terms. Fenris slowly starts to enjoy Valyre as a person and appreciate her traits in spite of being a mage, and he realizes that Hawke might not have been the only decent one. (Duh, my buddy…) He also can’t help but respect her leadership skills, intelligence, devotion to the world overall, and mental strength.

They end up developing romantic crushes for each other fairly simultaneously, and there is a chemistry present Valyre has never experienced before. Fenris makes her feel safe like no one else, and something about him makes her weak at the knees – which is totally unusual for her. Valyre enjoys physical contact with Fenris, which scares her at first (she is asexual and sex averse/touch averse except in very specific, extremely rare moments!) Fenris also helps Valyre forget about Solas, and eases the betrayal a bit, which allows her to be less emotional regarding her main mission to stop Solas (this is critical, really. Her anger could have ruined her judgment.)

I’m having a ton of fun coming up with potential plot scenarios that might happen in the next game *-* and these two are a surprisingly adorable couple to write about. Valyre is hella feisty and excellent at putting Fenris in his place (when he is being discriminatory esp, she schools him quick), and Fenris is more than clever enough to keep Valyre on her toes. Ilovethem, okay???

🥖 Cassandra 

Valyre is respectfully terrified of Cassandra the first few hours they know each other. In the beginning of their relationship, Valyre and Cassandra have uneasy tension in spite of being civil to one another. Valyre wants to like Cassandra and senses a good energy about her, but they also disagree on nearly everything except their main goal. She appreciates that Cassandra’s heart is in the right place, she thinks Cassandra is a total badass, and she respects her a great deal regardless of their differences.

The more Cassandra learns of the seekers and the rite of tranquility following her personal quest, the more Valyre begins to develop genuine sympathy and empathy for her. It allows them to finally have constructive conservations, and Valyre is there to support Cassandra no matter what she needs (minus helping her become divine… Valyre supports Leliana instead.)

Valyre thinks its adorable that Cassandra likes smut and is secretly a romantic. She supports Cassandra’s historic writing about their quests, and wants to become better friends with her continuously. By the end of the main quest, they are like sisters 💜 oh, and Valyre secretly appreciates that Cassandra is one of the few people who does not need her protection. Valyre admires Cassandra’s strength in many ways.

👻 Cole  

Valyre loves Cole! She is fascinated by his perspective, tries to learn from him, and she protects him always. She likes more relaxed moments with him where he can enjoy life, especially. During Cole’s personal quest, Valyre refuses to change him and allows him to be more of a spirit, more himself. She very much enjoys his seemingly random (we all know they are very relevant, heheh), insightful comments and often writes them down for later reference. After the events of Trespasser, Valyre worries a great deal what will become of Cole.

🐝 Sera

Valyre appreciates that Sera takes down nobles and is like Robin Hood! Anyone who helps the poor and puts greedy people in their place is fantastic in her book. However, as a person, even after getting to know her quite well, Valyre doesn’t feel that close with Sera. She likes certain things about Sera, like pranking members of the team for morale together! And some of her comments are hilarious to Valyre.

Sera’s fear of magic, her ridicule of the Dalish, and her closed mind are things that prevent Valyre from really liking Sera on a personal level. Valyre wants to try to continue to get to know Sera better and work with her though! Valyre hopes that Sera will become more open minded and open hearted as time goes on.

💚 I'm curious about what Valyre thinks of Ameridan 💚

HNNNGGG @ryanglitter BB ILYSOMUCH. Thank you for asking me this, and for reading/commenting on all my inquisitor relationship posts. You made my day after I woke up, and I became hella sick last night for the first time in a few years, I NEEDED THE CHEERING UP. YOU WIN *showers you and Evanna with pink tiny cakes* ((I need to say this now, Ameridan makes me think of you and I can totally picture Evanna flirting with him/making Solas hella jealous, it would be beyond hilarious to me???))

💚 Inquisitor Ameridan 💚Valyre would totally admire Ameridan and be excited that they had so much in common. Many of their deeds (eventually, I mean… Valyre goes to the Frostback Basin before the battle with Corypheus, she isn’t full badass mode yet), the fact that they both love dreamers, and their inherent positions as an elves in power torn between two faiths creates many parallels impossible to ignore! She would feel less strange, and comforted that the other inquisitor was “like her” in many ways.  Valyre would also really enjoy Ameridan’s personality immediately, respect his sense of balance and duty, and of course - his amazing adventures would make her marvel! After meeting him, she is extremely upset once she realizes he has to die right away for her to finish the defeat of Hakkon. Valyre wishes there would be some way to converse with him, to learn more from him, and to allow him to find more closure than simply knowing his enemy would be killed. Valyre preserves the historical texts about Ameridan, makes sure Professor Kendrick gives the story the notoriety it deserves, and does her best to honestly tell Ameridan’s story to everyone interested. She also refuses to let the Chantry, the kingdom of Orlais, or anyone else in power deny Ameridan’s role in history, or his identity. TRUTH AND JUSTICE, IN AMERIDAN’S HONOR.

Valyre and Varric are bff! The only person Valyre possibly trusts more is Dorian (he never kept information from her like Varric did, and Dorian seems to have better judgement - but Valyre also respects that Varric was protecting his friend Hawke! Valyre would marry Hawke honestly heheh) Following the incident at Adamant, and certainly after the shitty scenario with Bianca, Valyre has so much respect for Varric she couldn’t possibly think badly of him in any way. She wants to do anything she can to support him and alleviate his guilt regarding Corypheus/red lyrium. The only time she isn’t outright supportive in an agreeable way is in regard to Bianca the dwarf. Valyre doesn’t like Bianca or how she takes advantage of Varric without care for his well being (Valyre was so ready to support their relationship BUT NO, BIANCA HAD TO BE A SELFISH MESS AND A BAD SCIENTIST. DAMMIT), and after the incident with the thaig in the hinterlands she encourages Varric to dump her at every opportunity ( and isn’t shy about it. )

Varric’s friendship and support, his jokes and normalcy, and his wonderfully distracting stories are all critical for Valyre to get through her struggles during her own story. She values his friendship a great deal, and they become even closer after Corypheus is killed. Valyre wants to visit Varric in Kirkwall as soon as she is able, and writes to him often while they are apart during Kirkwall’s reconstruction (she always includes silly comics to make him laugh).
