You could cut the tension with a knife, I could feel his eyes on me from the moment I stepped in.
As I walked around aimlessly the club, the sounds and sights of the Halloween party assaulted my senses. I'd been here a couple hours too long now, my feet hurting from the stilettos I had borrowed from my roommate along with the smallest skirt known to man.
The party was nowhere near ending any time soon. The smell of candy and alcohol mixed with the music and the sound of people having fun. The sound of glass breaking and bottles being opened was loud in the air.
People were dancing and having fun, all while they were drinking and talking. The sound of the party was loud and clear, the sight of the lights flashing and changing colors was almost euphoric.
I pulled my skirt down lower as I walked, searching for the group of friends I had arrived with. The fake vampire teeth in my mouth felt uncomfortably wrong, accidentally scrapping my lips as I nervously chewed on them. As I found myself near the bathroom, searching my purse for my phone, I felt a presence close behind me.
"Looking for someone", a voice lowered into my ear startles me and I gasp, looking up with my hand on my chest before laughing.
He stood straight now, his sharp blue eyes covered with black eyeshadow and he smiled, flashing me his own set of fake vampire teeth.
"Yeah" I let out a breathless laugh, "My friends were over here a few minutes ago but I cant seem to find them"
He licks his teeth and nods his head, "Poor thing, all alone."
I shrug and look away now, growing nervous about this mysterious man and his unknown intentions. "Did you come with anyone?' I try and make conversation. He stares down at me for a moment, his smile never leaving his face before he turns and points at three men crowded around the bar, drinks in hand as they laugh loudly.
"What made you follow me all the way over here?" I cross my arms, quirking an eyebrow at him who now leaned against the wall admiring me.
"What? Can't a guy follow after a pretty girl dressed up as...." he drags out, motioning towards me with both hands.
"Vampire. I'm a vampire" I scoff, motioning to the teeth before straining my neck to show two little bite marks made from lip liner on my neck.
He gives a nod, a satisfied expression on his smug face, "Cute" He leans down to inspect my makeshift bite mark, his hand reaching over to smear it off. "Now you're just a regular attractive girl."
"Do you want to go outside?" I offer, leaning up to speak in his ear quickly. I was suddenly feeling very claustrophobic and needing to step away.
My friends were nowhere to be found and I knew the club would be closing soon, so I should make an effort to get out now.
"Names Y/n" I shout over the music, lending him my hand as we squeeze through the ocean of people.
"Luke" He repeats, close enough to my ear to send a shiver down my neck. He grabs my hand delicately and follows after me, taking a like to my boldness.
I step outside the packed club, the sounds and smells of the Halloween party are still lingering in the air. The sound of the music, laughter, and conversation drifted out of the club, mixing with the sounds of the traffic and the street.
It's a bit colder than usual, a chill breeze blows through my hair and the cold air feels refreshing after the hot, stuffy atmosphere of the club.
His hands wrapped around my waist gently, pulling me to the side so we weren't dead center view of the doors. I smiled softly, looking up at him.
He was very good looking, fake blood dripping down his chin as he flashes me his fanged smile once more.
I could feel the alcohol taking effect, my body stumbling each step I walked towards a tree in the corner of the yard.
"You live near here?" His voice was husk, deep and I could hear him more clearly now.
"I uh", I paused, unsure of whether or not to tell this stranger where I live
Fuck it, what harm could it really do?
"I live on campus actually" I let him slither his hands slowly up to the top of my head before he releases me.
"Let a gentleman walk you home?"
I hum in response, offering him my hand once more which he took in his own.
The walk home was eerily silent. Neither of us talked, just walked hand in hand in silence up until we reached the dorms. I point at my door, turning around to face him in the light. "Luke?"
He kept the same fanged smile from before, his eyes twinkling as he look down at me. "Yes, Y/n"
I pull my phone and keys from my clutch, checking to see the missed voicemail from my roommate Lexi.
"I forgot to tell you I like your costume", I turn the key in the door knob, stepping in and turning towards him to say goodnight.
The phone is nudged between my ear and shoulder in an attempt to hear the voicemail clearer.
He laugh loudly, his eyes never leaving mine as he leans down to plant a quick kiss on my lips.
"Who said it was a costume?"
The voicemail loads in, my heart racing as I can see the serious expression on Luke's face.
"Y/N LISTEN TO ME DO NOT GO HOME WITH" I can hear my roommate's pleading voice muffled through the phone.
I drop the phone, letting it clatter to the floor as my eyes widen. I don't lose eye contact as I search for the door handle with my free hand.
He chuckles, reaching towards me with one hand, "Poor thing, all alone?"
