Today's crab is: the spookiest crab
On a new species of vampire crab from the Geosesarma foxi species-group (Crustacea: Brachyura: Sesarmidae), northern Peninsular Malaysia
Peter K. L. Ng, S. Khadijah-Ahmad & Amirrudin B. Ahmad
Abstract:
Geosesarma bunian, new species, is described from Gunung Jerai in the northern Malaysian state of Kedah. Collected from over 1,100 m above sea level, the species is a member of the G. foxi (Kemp, 1918) species group, and is the fifth species known. Morphologically, G. bunian is closest to G. faustum Ng, 2017 from Penang, but the species can be distinguished by characters of the male first gonopod, male chelae and live coloration.

New pets! Vampire crabs.
Crab of the Day #1
I don't know how consistent I'll be with this series because I don't front the most often in our system, but I will try my best!
Today's crab of the day is the disco vampire crab (Geosesarma tiomanicum), which is a type of vampire crab. Vampire crabs are semi-terrestrial creatures that are native to Southeast Asia. They are commonly kept as pets and love to dig burrows.
Disco vampire crabs are large and aggressive relative to other Geosesarma species. They are also sometimes called red carnavals. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure why disco vampire crabs have the word disco in their name, but I imagine that it has to do with their vibrant colors (purple pincers and a salmon/orange carapace).

I would like to offer you a lil guy in this trying time
It's irritating how often I see Vampire Crabs recommended to people. Especially to newcomers to crab care.
They're sensitive, and not a very great idea for first time crab owners!
I had a few Vampire Crabs as my first, because they were all I was able to get (crab selections are quite limited in a landlocked area). I did a pretty decent job taking care of them, I had done 2 and a half years of research on crabs at that point.
One day, I came home to all of them dead. While I was out of the house that day, my mom had decided she needed to rearrange everything in their tank. The simple act of moving their stuff released a bit of dirt into their water, and killed them over the span of a few hours.
Because of my mom's inexperience with crabs, and lack of knowledge on particularly Vampire Crabs, my consortium died.
If you are inexperienced with crabs, have a handsy younger sibling, or live with someone who acts like a handsy younger sibling, I do not recommend Vampire Crabs.
If you're dead set on getting the same size crab, I personally recommend Red Dwarf Crabs. They're a bit hardier, and are (in my experience) just as common as Vampire Crabs.

Hopefully in making this post, I have stopped a first timer crab owner from getting, and possibly killing, a consortium of Vampire Crabs
you know the meme, evolution will make everything into a crab eventually, same applies to my and @alystar00 's dms apparently
so here's nikushka as a vampire crab
