Hear me out: what about a story where everything we know about vampires isn’t true at all apart from them being functionally immortal humanoid gothic bloodsuckers. Like literally everything else we know about them is just a stereotype and they are literally just humans who can’t be killed and drink blood.
they can see themselves in mirrors, the Sun doesnt hurt them, garlic doesn’t hurt them, they don’t need to be invited into buildings, they age like normal humans except the only thing that can kill them is old age and illness
And the best part? They have no idea that people assume these things about vampires so when someone addresses it they’re just like “what the fuck are you talking about??”
Having said all that heres my concept: human high schooler makes friends with the new girl, finds out she’s a vampire and they get into a lot of shenanigans involving the human’s misconceptions about vampires and the vampire’s complete confusion on WHY someone would ever assume she can’t look at herself in the mirror
