DoMayStic Day 4: Unspoken Message + Alternate Prompt E: "Don't you have something to tell me?" (by @astrobookwormsinger)
Meetra tucked the holorecorder and the wrapped mask into their robes when a sharp cry pierced the apartment.
Bastila quickly straightened up. "I must have made noise when fetching the items." She quickly ran inside while Meetra stood outside, a bit awkwardly. T3 rolled up next to them with a curious chirp.
"I don't know if droids understand the concept of children," Meetra started, but Bastila walked out with a sleepy 3-year-old before Meetra could continue.
"Master Surik, meet Vaner," she offered. On cue, Vaner reached out his little hands to greet the stranger. Meetra gently hoisted him up and held him, feeling his life energy through the Force. Something… felt off. For a moment, they questioned whether they were still a Wound, unable to feel the Force, and the moment made their heart stop and cold sweat break down their face.
"Quite the adventurer, isn't he? No sense of stranger danger whatsoever."
Meetra fixed Bastila with a stare. "Is there… something about him that I need to know?"
Bastila sighed, her smile fading. "He's not Force sensitive."
That explained that. The infant curiously tugged at Meetra's armband as they processed this information, and a single realisation hit them.
"You and Revan's heir in the Force would have attracted Darth Nihilus to Coruscant. His lack of Force sensitivity has saved billions," they breathed.
Bastila's eyes widened as she nodded. "That is… I see." She paused. "Anything else you can tell me?
That I created Nihilus? That Revan pre-destined him to exist when he put me in charge of Malachor V? That I turned a fellow Revanchist into a monster and then killed him for it?
That I kissed Visas goodbye while still drowning in the guilt that I created the Wound that ruined her life?
"No," Meetra smiled, the smile not reaching their eyes. "He'll be just fine."
