Although in the style of the ancient stave church which served Vang, this building was constructed in the 1960s on a slightly different site using some materials salvaged from the older church dating from the 12th century, one which was in very poor condition on a site prone to flooding.

The Vangsnes Stone

Raised around year 1000ce in Vang in Oppland, Norway.

“Gása synir reistu stein þinsi eptir Gunnar, bròðursun”/ eng: “Gåse’s sons raised this stone in memory of Gunnar, (their) brothers son”

Kind of similar style to the mammen axe and has the same “joints” in some places
