The Failed relationships of Sweet Pea
Sweet Pea never had much luck in love in his younger years. His relationships were short and, near the end of high school, rather draining.
Mabel Harlow
(oc, moodboard, and blurb written by @vannahsunshine )
Mabel and Sweet Pea practically grew up together, and it’s only natural to develop a crush on one of your closest friends, even if it’s brief. Neither of them were going to admit it, afraid it would make things weird, until a game of truth or dare. Maddox, like the brat Mabel knew he was, knew that Mabel would never turn down a dare, so he dared Mabel to kiss Sweet Pea. Mabel wasted no time grabbing Sweet Pea by the collar and planting a big ol’ smooch on him, and he was smitten.
Things went well for a while, they were practically joined at the hip, infatuated with each other since they were both each other’s first relationship, but once things started to... progress, it did start feeling a little weird. Not wanting to hurt the other’s feelings, neither of them said anything for a good five months, deciding to just deal with the weird. When things would start to get… heated, one of them would come up with an excuse to leave until they were hardly spending any time together.
The break up was smooth and easy, the two agreeing they just weren’t the right fit, going right back to being bros.
Marisa Tomas
Marisa Tomas met Sweet Pea during their physics class during spring semester their sophomore year. She intrigued him. The girl never went anywhere without some loud print or neon earrings, occasionally decking her eyes out with stick on rhinestones that sparkled under the fluorescent lights of the school.
She’d introduced him to the world of raves(a habit that would leave him finding glitter everywhere even years later). It was an exciting time for him and it always gave him somewhere to belong besides the serpents. The bright lights and glitter let him escape from his stresses and just have fun. They’d always end their dates sitting on the side of the road with a shitty corn dog and slurpee from the nearest 7-11, laughing at each other’s running makeup.
The breakup was quick, but mutual. They just decided they would work out better as friends. They’d still go to raves occasionally until they graduated and Marisa went to study abroad.
Josie McCoy
The two had met briefly after Archie Andrews had gotten arrested at the pep rally, and kind of hit it off. She was sweet and seemed to be interested in him, so he’d asked her out to pops. She wasn’t single at the time, so she’d declined. About two weeks later, she took him up on that date, and the two ended up making out in the back of his car most of the night. They’d decided to make a summer fling that would end as the new school year started, to be able to escape from the chaos that was their lives. Midway through, Sweet Pea caught feelings, strong feelings that didn’t go away. As their deadline grew nearer, he hoped that Josie would see him like he did her. She lit up his world in a way no other girl had, and she’d even become a good support system, but, as the school year started, their relationship ended. He wanted to be mad at how she didn’t return his feelings, but eventually realized that feelings were never supposed to be part of it, and let it go, although his heart did pick up occasionally as he glimpsed her in the hallways.
Vivienne “Vivi” O’Reilly
Vivienne was his first mistake. He’d met her and she’d been really kind, and sweet, and soft. The more he got to know her, the more the veil lifted to the absolute mess she was. She was hyper vigilant, getting into fights nearly as much as he did at southside high. She had an overactive sex drive, always was all over him, leaving hickies and makeup slathered all over him chin. He went along with it because he’d thought that would make her happy. She was a major klutz, tripping and crashing into everything with a giggle that started to grate on his nerves after some time. What ended it was she showed up on one of his runs with the baby ghoulies. Serpents and Ghoulies had started to work together and she nearly got the shit kicked out of her by one of the short ones with a bat.
For the next month, he had to avoid her everywhere he went, in fear she’d try to beg him to take her back (she’d done this multiple times).
Eden Bello
Eden and Sweet Pea knew each other from the various trades they’d made, but after the night his girlfriend had shown up, they’d start to see each other more. Soon, he was wrapped around her finger and the two started dating.
The relationship was draining, everyone could tell, the light in his eyes dwindled as she bossed him around like a little pup. They were always at each other’s throats, starting fights over the smallest little things (eventually you’d find them making out behind the bleachers after school).
She was even banned from Both the Fogarty and Abrejo houses, having left an unsanitary impression on everyone. Not only that, but sweet pea had started to gain small bruises everywhere, leading to a confrontation with one of his friends, Queenie.
They’d left the group to fight in private, although their voices carried over to where their friends sat. Once a slap rang through the air, Queenie was out of her seat with her bat in a flash and running towards them.
The girls left the fight, bruised and scratched up.
“I don’t usually beg, but you need to break things off with her” Queenie had muttered as he stitched her up. She’d pulled him into a hug, “I don’t like seeing you hurt. Please.”
The next day, Eden and Sweet Pea had a messy breakup, which ended with Eden getting dragged off by the other baby ghoulies, not wanting another gang war on their hands.
