rewatching fmab with a friend and they only just then realized that hohenheim and paracelsus are based on the Same fucking guy. anyways i found that hilarious and decided to draw the ugly motherfucker (03 hohenheim) as a broom and it spiraled from there
(more art + a lot of rambling/writing under the cut; highly self-indulgent AU that features queerplatonic Hohenheim/Homunculus, Trisha/Hohenheim/oc, Homunculus/oc, so like oc/canon thrice the usual amount + warning for scars, partial nudity (chest).)
Look, I have no defence. I'm literally just really gay.
For those who don't know; A queerplatonic relationship (QPR) is a close committed partnership that's not inherently romantic or sexual in nature, but more intimate than a friendship.
They've been on the mind. I can't stand this ship if it's just Father looking identical to Hohnenheim, I already survived the Undertale fandom okay. But Homunculus/Hohenheim is such a brain itching concept since I realised that was an option. I love me some complicated relationships, alright.
AU elaboration; Hohenheim and Homunculus still go their separate ways after the fall of Xerxes, but instead of Homunculus committing way too hard to a life of solitude, he realises he can't do it alone—partially due to the screams of the damned refusing to be quiet whenever he's panicking even a little. From there it's a hunt for Hohenheim situation, always missing each other by one step, drama. Eventually, Homunculus corners Hohenheim—who is understandably still livid—and does the craziest fucking thing imaginable; apologize. Not that it's a good apology, but they have eternity to figure it out.
Instead of being Father's military dog; Cleodora never met the guy in the beginnings of Amestris. Fate is inevitable though, and they end up meeting nonetheless, albeit in a far worse situation. They have strands of premature white hair due to the stress of surviving after being dishonourably discharged from their position as general, which is also how they got the scar in the face.
More AU elaboration; Cleodora straight up stabs Homunculus and then gets fucking annihilated with a pillar right through the heart. Classic. Panic ensues. The last thing Cleodora saw was Homunculus screaming for Hohenheim's help, before meeting God and waking up alive. Homunculus is a one-trick pony /j.
Man, Cleo with the white strands is just immaculate. I'd add it to their normal design if it didn't fuck with the stuff I've already written about them :(
I don't like the close up of Cleo & Hohenheim, so you'll have to zoom in yourself, it looks too wonky. Anyway, Hohenheim & Cleodora get closer over time, that seems pretty self-explanatory to me. Demi-romantic Cleodora and demi-sexual Hohenheim canon.
Eventually, Resembool. Trisha fuckin' Elric. Homunculus does not get why his partners are like that about 'just some lady', but he's still tasked with figuring out a cure to immortality that doesn't require killing themselves an uncountable amount of times.
Cleodora is a lot more forward with Trisha while Hohenheim just... Awkwardly—although it definitely charms the fuck out of Trisha as we all know—stares and stammers his way into her heart.
And then it just becomes a dramatic slice-of-life AU, because it's self-indulgent to the max.
Misc section;
Homunculus never changes his name to Thaddeus or Father, because he feels Homunculus is the perfect name to describe his body. Which is not entirely human, see the first close-up or my post about non-human Father, he hides these attributes with either his hair or clothes.
Cleodora is a lot less put their own ass, since Father’s (non-existent) personality didn't rub off on them in this AU.
Trisha is the ringleader. No one questions Trisha's authority.
I love polyamory. It solves my multi-shipping issues, a blessing.
