From this angle, it seems to have come straight out of a fairy tale!⁣ ⁣ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲:⁣ ⁣ Take a Regional train from Turin or Savona to Savigliano. South-west of Piedmont in the province of Cuneo and west of the Monviso massif lies 'Valle Varaita' ('Varaita Valley), a beautiful area boasting mountain lakes, ski slopes and enchanting woods. Out of all the valleys in the Piedmont region, this valley has been one of the most successful in preserving its intrinsic cultural and linguistic heritage, holding ancient traditional festivals such as the 'Baìo di Sempeyre' that is celebrated every 5 years. A picture paints a thousand words and this one paints a million. The Cottian Alps in the background are nothing short of spectacular with their striking shapes and colours dominating the skyline as well as the small Alpine village of Chianale seen on the right. So if you are looking for an authentic adventure in a truly terrific location, look no further than Chianale — the last village you come to before ascending the Col Agnel mountain pass and entering France. I took this photo while walking from Pontechianale, just 5km away. Words can't describe the surprise I was given when I turned a corner and suddenly saw this dramatic backdrop. It was just as well that the bus I took from Saluzzo stopped at Pontechianale as I wouldn't have taken this superb shot. To be part of this area of outstanding natural beauty, you need to get to Saluzzo first. There are different ways to arrive there: either take a train from Turin or Cuneo to Savigliano and then take a bus ('BusCompany' line 97) to Saluzzo. Or, there are direct bus services to Saluzzo from Turin (line 91) or from Cuneo (line 106). Both services are run by 'BusCompany'.
