🍔 Updated review ━ 📍 Jureskogs ★★★☆☆ • The Swedish star chef and meat expert Johan Jureskog opened the burger chain Jureskogs with his brother, with hopes of changing how the public sees fast-food. Inspired by Shake Shack – the world’s best global burger chain – they focus on high quality ingredients, and we first reviewed them when they’d just opened their first restaurant in Stockholm back in 2018. Nowadays they can be found in the cities Gothenburg, Värnamo, Mjölby and Lund, and we felt that it was time to update our review. We’ve been to several of their restaurants over the years, and our recent visit was to their roadside restaurant near Mjölby. • Jureskogs have been trying to find their identity for a while now, and seem to have settled on being a family restaurant with reasonable prices. We ordered two deals that included fries; a double cheeseburger for 99 SEK (11.5 USD) and their signature burger Highfive for 139 SEK (16.5 USD). Just like at other fast-food places we got to follow our order on a tv screen and pick it up at the counter, but quality-wise Jureskogs are miles ahead of their roadside competitors. The beef from Swedish cows was juicy and tasted great thanks to the excellent crust. However, their bun was pretty compact and got stuck in the roof of our mouths when we ate it. The organic burger cheddar had melted nicely on top of the patties, and gave the burger a nice creamy texture. Unfortunately, both our burgers were slathered in far too much mayo, making them hard to eat and just a bit too soft. • Overall, the quality is improving, even though they’re not quite there. But it really does feel like Jureskogs are on the right path. In larger cities with a lot of competition, Jureskogs struggle to stick out from the crowd.
