vcha is coming back in 2025, heres why you should boycott.
tw: ed, sh, suicide
on dec 6, kg posted on her ig story saying she has filed a lawsuit against jyp and is trying to terminate her contract. at court to get kgs contract approved, jype promised the following.
- no filming in grouo residency
jype installed multiple cameras, even in the girls pantry to monitor their eating habits.
- follow california state laws
jype has violated multiple california state laws such as
child labor exploitation:
- violation of child labor law, failure to pay minimum wage, failure to provide breaks, failure to provide safe work, environment, wage theft, overtime violations, unjust enrichment, conversion, wage statements, failure to maintain records
context: kg worked over 12+ hours a week as minor with school. california state thats 16-17 year olds are allowed to work up to 4hrs on school days, up to 8hrs on non school days, a maximum of 48 hours/wk. kg worked 60+ hours a week with school from 7-10 am, and training from 10:30am to sometimes over 1-2am. kg stated that for 6 months, she was only being paid $500/wk. thats less than $7 a day. california minimum wage in 2023 was $15.59 and in 2024 its $16.
child neglect and abuse
- intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, unfair business practice, child endangerment
context: vcha was forced to practice with multiple injuries such as sprained ankles, strained muscles, etc. kg was forced to repeat a dance move multiple times and hold squats during each time. when she asked for water, staff told her no until she perfected it. due to this, kg tore a shoulder tendon. kg went to the hospital, the doctors told her to rest. when she went to training, she asked staff if she could “take it easy.” staff said “no” and continued to make her practice for hours.
vcha as a whole were denied meals, water, and short breaks. they were told by staff that “they don’t have to eat” which led into eating disorders and self-harm. one time, a staff member walked them to the car and reminded them to “dont eat” and slammed the door shut. one of the members took 42 nyquil pills as a suicide attempt. kg found them vomiting uncontrollably the next morning. when kg told staff, she was told that eating disorders are “common” and the suicide was swept under the rug, as they were told to lie to a staff member saying that the member was with family and got food poisoning. netizens think that kaylee was the one who attempted, as the suicide attempt happened in february. her hiatus started in march. this theory is not confirmed.
contract claims
- breach of contract, fraud and deception in the inducement
equitable relief
- declaratory and injunction relief
according to jype’s contract, they had full control on kg about
- her working for jype and following their rules
- social media control
- ownership of their image, work, and likeness
- not allowed to work for jype’s competitors
- song re-recordings, publicity restrictions
- appearance changes (hair, tattoos, etc.)
- not allowed to publicly speak against jype.
kg/vcha cant fight against these unless the court approves for change
my prayers are will kg and the rest of the vcha members, as in hopes kg’s contract will be terminated and hopefully the other members will too. they are human, not machines.
