AKA had to doodle possibly every single protagonist/ player character that's a shape AND is from a music based/ rhythm game or just a game with really good music.
Every single character and their game, from top left to bottom right underneath the cut:
Red and yellow octahedron with cyan rings: Jumpie/ protagonist from JUMPGRID
White circle with diamond "ears": Player character from THOTH
Black cylinder: Player character from 140
Cyan square, orange circle, yellow triangle and green pentagon: Players from Just Shapes and Beats
Pink square with three smaller white squares behind it: Nanobot from Project Arrhythmia
Pinkish red triangle: "Player" from Super Hexagon
Magenta cube: Player from Vectronom
White circle with purple and white rounded triangles: Player from Rhythmy
The levels change in sync with the music, making a sort of psychedelic rhythm Q-Bert looking thing that I’m totally into. The announcement for the game also mentions you can use alternate controllers like dance pads! Which, again, into. I hadn’t thought about trying to get some kind of dance pad into the Switch, but it must be possible, either through USB or USB>GameCube.

Okay so I saw this meme online and decided to do it. I like a lot of obscure stuff. Also the reason I don’t like DOOM is because it’s way too bloody and violent for my liking.
Today's short, cheap, and fun game (since that seems to be the mood this week) is Vectronom.
I think it's the first thing I've played since 140 that successfully integrates the gameplay and music this well (without cheating and being a pure rhythm game), and that's saying something. Also 140 is great. Everyone go play 140.
I guess also like 140 this technically qualifies as a puzzle platformer, although instead of being about running and jumping like that one is it's about moving along with the music and finding the right path and timing to get through the levels.
There were a couple frustrating moments here and there that I didn't love, but the levels are short enough and restart instantly so I either threw myself at something a few more times and got the hang of it or went and did something else for a little while and it clicked when I got back.
A lot of the music is great, which is important for something like this, and I love you whoever decided to get weird with some of the later levels and ditch boring 4/4 or the very slightly more exotic 3/4 and put them in 7 or 9 with odd rhythms on top of that. I could see that throwing some people off, but once you find the beat they're actually relatively easy compared to other stuff at that point in the game and fun for being different.
