Constantly threatened when I try and sit in my chair.  The progression today of the piece. I'm in favor of it!  I feel pretty badass when it's on my shoulders.  I'll have it finished tomorrow I hope! 

After the critique over Christmas break I want to paint it with matte and shiny black or lavender (haven't decided) with the matte over the cardboard areas and shiny where the glue is, to create an odd contrast of oozing crystals. Definitely want to keep this piece with my book dress and the future poppy cape, which I definitely want to carry out.

The book dress is at the bottom for reference.  I think I called it Writer's Block, I can't remember.

I'm really liking the contrasting and textural effect of the bubbled hot glue at the seams.. glad I decided to do that :)

So as I was working with the poppies I decided that I didn't think they were the best choice.  I felt like I was fighting the material too much and needed to focus more on the grains and strengths of the cardboard. 

I instead altered my design and though I'm maintaining a protective/armor-like base, I will use a crystalline pattern.  I also want to use the hot glue as an extra texture (I still want to paint it at some point, even if that is not before crit day).

So I've been trying to store this out of the way of the new Foundations class in the wood shop now and any others who might need the storage I was using.  So I stored it on the floor in a corner and was apprehensive about it but I didn't want to be in the way.

It's safe to say I'm back on the safer shelving. I'm sure it was an accident however it happened, and I'm not upset (initially I was of course, but it was a fragile joint and I'm aware of that) but somehow the piece was jolted and a segment popped off.  

It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do, what was best to do, and then to do it, but it happened and things must move forward.  I decided to take the section of wood between the hexagon and the fuller piece off completely (I hid some of the screws so well that it took a while).  The hexagon will float with the smaller ones.

Step one should not be called step one because it happens way too many times to be considered one. No.
