Hey acti-veg, I read a post on tumblr that talked about the validity of documentaries and how they are not obligated to tell the truth, so how would one actually trust the validity of vegan documentaries like cowspiracy, what the health (that has since been debunked ig), or others

Well, documentaries exist primarily to entertain, they’re not peer reviewed studies nor do they represent reliable evidence in and of themselves. However, good documentaries compile a list of sources you can refer to and which they make publicly available, so you can check those yourself. Keep in mind that just as vegan documentary makers will have their bias in making their films, as any filmmaker does, so do the people ‘debunking’ them. It is realy up to us as viewers to be critical and fact check the media we consume.

Good vegan films list:

- dominion. This is one of the best vegan documentaries I've ever watched. It questions all the ways we subject animals to our will, and includes lots of haunting footage, so don't eat before you watch it. (Set it Australia, documents agricultural practices used all across the western world and China) you can find it on youtube.

- the game changers. This is on Netflix, and documents pro athletes who've gone vegan & the health benefits.

- the land of hope and glory. This documents the horrific agriculture practices used in the UK on all animals. You can find it on YouTube, and once again don't eat before you watch.

- cowspiracy and what the health! These two are by the same film maker, kip, and are both on Netflix. Cowspiracy is about how bad agricultural farming is impacting climate change, and the refusal of governments and organisations to act. What the health! Is about the negative impacts meat and dairy have on our bodies, and is packed with scientific evidence presented in a watchable way. It also adresses government and organisations refusal to talk about this.

two of the ones i recommend most often are Cowspiracy and Speciesism The Movie, bc they’re both informative and good watches without being graphic.

50 vegan documentaries to watch

Vegan documentaries can be powerful and inspiring visual tools of education. They are great at telling stories and conveying important messages.

Most of the documentaries here are related to vegan themes, some deal with more general topics which may still be beneficial in broadening your understanding.  

These documentaries can help you lead a life which is compassionate, healthy, and environmentally friendly.

Many of these you will know and may have already watched, but there may be some that you haven't yet seen.
