people clapping like seals over two dozen beagles getting rescued from an animal testing site (one post i saw had 2.4 million likes and thousands of positive comments), meanwhile approximately 25 million (25,000,000) land animals are being slaughtered every day in just the US for food, 150 million (150,000,000) if sea creatures are included (as they should be). globally humans are killing 90 billion (90,000,000,000) land animals and 2 trillion (2,000,000,000,000) sea creatures every year. just to avoid eating beans and lentils. there's no fixing our myopic species. but yay, beagles, i guess.
I see so many people moving towards veganism solely to lose weight and I wish I could shake them and tell them that veganism is an ethical movement with a goal of reducing animal exploitation. You can be fat and vegan (like me). You can be skinny and consume animal products. If your goal is to lose weight/be healthy, you're better off doing generic healthy stuff like eating more fruits and veggies and doing a form of exercise you enjoy.
It's crazy how many illnesses you can get from consuming animals and their products. Makes you wonder. Perhaps...we shouldn't be eating them...at all...
Vegans deserve to express their values without being antagonized and disrespected and dealing with immature, passive-aggressive behaviour ✨
Got excited about the McDonald's × Kpop Demon Hunters collab until I remembered that McDonald's has like 0 vegan food 😞
my pet peeve
i never found the stupid character/animal trope funny. if it's an animal, usually it's farm animals, showing that it's ok to kill, exploit or do other harmful things to them because they look stupid (speciesism).
or if it's a person, and their sole purpose is to look/talk like stupid with no plot or personality, it's ableism, showing that disabled people can only be funny or tragic.
