“but what about cultural foods?” my guy im literally from a culture that serves pig in its own boiled blood and yet I’m still vegan
My only goal in life is to spread soy boy propaganda and make really bad jokes
Even if plants are capable of suffering, you would cause less plant death by eating the plants directly rather than growing crops that are fed to animals that are then killed.
People are so unnecessarily weird about vegan food. Three examples off the top of my head, involving various work colleagues over the years.
I used to work in the flagship Waterstones in Piccadilly Circus. Back then, the Japan Centre used to be next door, and we'd frequently go there to get lunch. I can't remember exactly what I'd bought one day, but it was something with tofu. One of my colleagues started going off about how much they hate tofu, wouldn’t eat it if you paid them.
I asked if they were enjoying their lunch. Oh, yes. They love this type of sushi, its absolutely their favourite. I pointed out that they were eating inari. Which is tofu. They said no, its a type of japanese cake. I said its literally tofu. They looked it up online. They refused to eat it after that.
I had another colleague at Tussauds tell me how much they hate vegan food. They said this while they were tucking in to hummus and pita bread for lunch. Something they brought for lunch almost every day. When I told them their lunch was pretty standard vegan food, they said that this doesn’t count because its normal food (?!)
Another colleague at another job. It was at a grotto I worked at one Christmas. I asked around, checked if anyone had any allergies or intolerances, because I was going to make some cakes to bring in to share. Nope, no allergies anywhere.
I made a couple of types - maple and walnut, and spiced fig and orange. They went down perfectly. One guy, whilst stuffing his face with his fourth, told me I should open a bakery, they were the best cupcakes he'd ever had. I told him I hoped to one day, as there was a gap in the market for a good vegan bakery. He paused mid bite. "These are vegan?" he said. "Yes," I replied.
He spat it out and refused to finish it. The same cake that moments earlier had been the best cake he'd ever eaten.
And people think vegans are weird 🫠
vegans aren't allowed to do anything without catching heat lmao. you cant even enjoy tofu without some anti-vegan meat addict breathing down your neck about how you should add dead animals to every meal
I tried tofu for the first time and it was pretty.
Even though I can't cook I added too much chili pepper and oil.
hey so sometimes people here on tumblr will make posts that sound like this
this might be a very controversial thing to say but it annoys me so bad when i hear people complain about ai using water when they don't do any actual research into things that also use it
the meat industry uses 200 times more water than the ai industry. Like i understand that veganism and vegetarianism isn't accessible to everyone but for the majority it absolutely is. Yes, boycott ai, but also actually take a second to think about the things that do even worse
People will genuinely say that their relationship with a domesticated cow which they've paid for to be bred and killed for their consumption is the same as the relationship a fox has to a hare that they killed to survive.
Dare I say that eating an animal which has had its fate of being killed and sold predetermined from its birth and was kept in a certain area for its whole life so it didn't have a chance of not being killed at the time that was chosen it isn't preserving a natural predator-prey relationship or keeping you connected to nature?
I see so many people moving towards veganism solely to lose weight and I wish I could shake them and tell them that veganism is an ethical movement with a goal of reducing animal exploitation. You can be fat and vegan (like me). You can be skinny and consume animal products. If your goal is to lose weight/be healthy, you're better off doing generic healthy stuff like eating more fruits and veggies and doing a form of exercise you enjoy.
let's give it up for rice and beans veganism!!!!!
