I'm two days away from attempting my second 50k Ultra-marathon. My first one was a couple years ago and I was the last to finish; that was humbling as I felt ready but in the end, I wasn't. This time around I have trained more, minus having to take almost 2 months off after injuring my Achilles. I did a long run of 20 miles last week and have a 2-3 miler for tomorrow to stretch the legs out and then we shall see what I have in the tank for this race. This one feels different though and I am confident I can shave at least a couple hours off from my previous race. I won't be winning, that's not the type of runner I am. But I will finish because as tough as it gets, the "pain cave" is where I thrive. I've ran this course before and did the 25k distance, it's a great course that is looped which means I can stop at my bag for refueling or whatever.
