Does anyone else really struggle with pre and post run nutrition? I always find it hard to eat after a run even through I know I have to. I also suck at eating before runs. Basically the only time I'm any good at eating is on days where I'm not running and so I generally try to take advantage of that by eating as much as possible.

Anyway, here is this morning's run and the post run breakfast/snack I had when I got back.

*･゜ﾟ･here’s my recipe for my favorite post-run smoothie･゜ﾟ･*

1-2 bananas (2 makes it sweeter!)

1 cup frozen spinach

1 cup chopped kale

2 cups frozen mango

3 tbsp hemp seeds

1 cup water or non-dairy milk (or 1/2 cup each; i use almond milk)

instructions: just blend it all together!

optional:

1 tbsp+ honey for some extra sweetness

1 tbsp+ matcha for an energy boost

has around 400-500cals, 17g protein, 600-700mg calcium, 6-7mg iron depending on variations

also helps cover daily reqs for vitamin a, fiber, b vitamins, vitamin e, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, zinc, omega-3

Today marks the Official Start of the 2019 Spring Season. Had 3 miles on the plan and “got ugly early” with treadmill hills at @hilltopymca (hills were not my friend in 2018 races - 2019 will be better!) Ran the first mile at 7% incline and a respectable 6mph. Took 1 minute at 6mph/0%. Plan was to do two more miles like the first one. Made it 0.4 miles before crying uncle and taking a minute walk. 0.25 the next time and decided a new strategy was better than 🤮💀 Jacked that treadmill up to 15% and power hiked the last mile. Also brutal. So glad to do this in training instead of on race day!!! @bataanmarch here I come!
