This vegan oyster sauce recipe provides all the savory flavor of traditional oyster sauce without any animal products. It's perfect for adding depth and richness to vegan stir-fries, noodles, and other dishes.
Ingredients: 1/2 cup shiitake mushrooms, dried. 1 cup vegetable broth. 2 tablespoons soy sauce. 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce. 1 tablespoon agave syrup. 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder. 1/2 teaspoon onion powder. 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper. 1/4 teaspoon sea salt.
Instructions: Soak the dried shiitake mushrooms in warm water for about 30 minutes to bring them back to life. Once the mushrooms are dry again, chop them up very small. Put the vegetable broth, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, agave syrup, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and sea salt in a small saucepan. Toss the chopped shiitake mushrooms into the pan after adding them. Over medium-low heat, bring the mixture to a simmer. Then, lower the heat to low and let it simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened a bit. Once the sauce gets thick, take it off the heat and let it cool down before you use it. Use in your favorite recipes instead of oyster sauce if you're vegan.
