Jade pauses, blinks. He’s mildly surprised to find himself a few steps closer to Azul, who is staring up at him with those damnable wide eyes that dart around like gobies cornered in the reef. His bottom lip is pressed plump between his teeth, glistening with nervous saliva. An entirely too tempting of a presentation. Azul just doesn’t know how to not be a delicious morsel.
“Urgh, I’m out before this gets really disgusting,” Floyd says, and slams the door shut, presumingly behind himself though Jade’s not turning around to investigate. Floyd did soundly ignore Azul’s gasping plea of “Wait, no, Floyd!” though.
The desperation in Azul’s voice is like a sweet syrup to Jade’s ears. He feels his mouth widening further, a sort of baring of his teeth. “You’re adorable, dearest Azul. Why do you appear frightened?”
“I’m not.” Quick, terse. Azul’s back straightens, fingers interlace in his lap, chin tilts up—a comical juxtaposition to the way he’s practically slipping off the side of his bed and his hands are clasped tight to stifle the nearly imperceptible quiver in them. Oh! How these hands would look with Jade’s own fingers curled around their wrists, restricting them while Jade crawls over their owner unheeded and bites into—
“I merely desired some tea.”

Azul is going mad—there’s no other explanation for why he can’t keep his emotions in check and is, sevens forbid, contemplating permitting Jade to consume part of his tentacle. Floyd is trying to score a date with Riddle. Georgina Leech is willing to do just about anything to see her sons happy. The rest of the party is a mix of disturbed and concerned (except for Rook Hunt; he’s ecstatic to witness so many displays of beauté et amour!).

She had been running across the street. In a pink dress.
Her body lies in the middle of the stone road, tiny and twisted, dress torn and matted into her skin, edges pasted bloody into her gashes. She’s gray from the road, brown from the dirt, black from the underside of the car she’d just been pressed against—just been rubbed raw against the road with. She’s gray and brown and black and red all over.
Her two front teeth are missing and you wonder if they’re laying somewhere on the road, or if they’ve always been missing. Maybe they’ve bounced into the cornfields, two small white kernels.
You like popcorn.
Everything’s silent. A quiet, “Sophia,” rises from the side of the road, from a boy about sixteen or seventeen, about your age. Sophia is bleeding, dark red, onto the stones beneath her, reaching out like excited speech bubbles. You’re standing a few feet away, feet like roots.
Your mom is still sitting in the car, hands stiff on the steering wheel.

And Azul, dear Azul, lured to attend by the promise of vast networking opportunities, will have to confront whatever inane reason he possesses for not giving in to Jade. Because Jade is going to do everything within his power to make Azul so jealous he finally snaps.

His reputation is down the tank after going berserk and stripping his classmates of magic, his dormmates are threatening mutiny, the Mostro Lounge is suffering financially due to its connection to him, he's just lost all the talent and power he's spent years amassing, his mom is insisting on an unwanted party for his birthday, and the twins have apparently decided flirting with him in an attempt to drive him crazy is their new source of entertainment.
Jade is having the time of his life watching Azul flounder about in despair; he's so beautiful when he's stressed. Actually, Azul is beautiful all the time, when expressing any emotion, which has gotten Jade into a bit of a predicament because both his mother and brother are strong-arming him into doing something about his affections. Also, someone seems to be actively trying to harm Azul. Stressing him out is one thing, that's hilarious, but actually maiming him is unacceptable.

Daphne thinks he should focus more on trapping the creature that's hounding them, but she keeps getting kidnapped and getting distracted by Velma's obliviousness to her flirting, so she can't really say much. This trying to confess to your crush thing is way more difficult than it should be.
